Mrs ImTheOcean and I have been listening to the "Every Single Album" podcast about Taylor Swift on our walks lately. Learning a lot more about her as an artist and an all around fantastic human. This in turn has started in us picking up her discography - this one in particular is perfect for a nice drizzly morning.

Again, I didn’t read the whole prompt prior to selecting my record so I chose a female solo artist opposed to a whole band of females. Also, I just kinda wanted to listen to some Polly Jean Harvey.

Tomoko Aran (亜蘭知子) - Fuyū Kūkan (浮遊空間)

So I've been to Japan twice already and will be heading back in roughly 1.5 months, but I want to head to different prefectures/regions on future trips. While that won't be happening on this upcoming trip given that there are two newcomers in tow, I have a major desire to head up north to both the Hokkaido (北海道) and Tōhoku (東北) regions. Tomoko Aran is from the Aomori prefecture (青森県) in Tōhoku, born in Hirosaki City (弘前市). Her music is a blend of several genres, with Fuyū Kūkan being a hybrid of techno-kayo, city pop, new wave, and synthpop. "I'm In Love" is on the second volume of the Pacific Breeze city pop compilation series issued by Light in the Attic.

The rough plan is to visit Aomori in the autumn season.

Caroline Polachek - Desire, I Want to Turn Into You

Despite being a modern artist, she is one of my top50 all time purely for her vocal ability and creative direction (I adore both of her studio records of course). I don't think she plays with female musicians on this record in the studio, but she does include bassist Maya "True Blue" Laner with her band on tour.

Joseph Spence - Bahaman Folk Guitar

I was in the Bahamas when I was 5 on a Disney Cruise. I don't remember the island, but I do remember the football made out of a coconut I had in my childhood bedroom that I bought there.

One of my wife's favorite bands. She's a keeper. I mean, obviously she's a keeper - she's endured 40 years of my ridiculousness and is still hangin' around.

So glad we got to see this band together in a small club.

Jamie xx "In Colour"
My wife adores this record! I'm not exactly a casual music fan so I do stream a lot of stuff but Jamie xx has been included in my "Spotify wrapped" in more than one year and it's definitely not because of me!
