Day 5 - National Weatherperson's Day - Play something that reminds you of some kind of weather.
It's finally getting cold enough here in Oregon to worry about ice and snow the next few days. My mom and brother has gotten more snow on the gulf coast of Mississippi than we have here this season. (And we've only gotten a bit of frost so far - no ice or snow at all.)
The Lemonheads - It’s A Shame About Ray
I understand why The Lemonheads cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson” was their biggest hit, the song is fantastic but this album is full of their own pop gems that are just as, if not more so deserving.
Day 3: National Golden Retriever Day
Play a record that you keep coming back to, like that retriever endlessly chasing the ball.
Neil Young - Harvest Moon
This was really the first Neil album I fell in love with mainly thanks to hearing his version of “Harvest Moon” on a rerun of SNL on Comedy Central. Neil has a whole song on the record dedicated to his furry friend, King.
Day 5: National Weatherperson's Day
Play something that reminds you of some kind of weather.
Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
This album reminds me more of a sunny crisp Spring Day that a gloomy winter day but “White Winter Hymnal” was the first thing I thought of.
Day 5 - National Weatherperson's Day - Play something that reminds you of some kind of weather.
With the current cold temps and an ice storm headed our way tonight, I decided to play something that reminds me of summer.
Obviously the title does, but also, my mom played this album when I was a kid and if memory serves, it was almost always summer back then.
Day 6 - National Frozen Yogurt Day - Play something that's a quality substitute for the real thing.
Divine Fits "A Thing Called Divine Fits"
I rather enjoy this record and wish they did a follow-up but in the end I'm always going to reach for a Wolf Parade or Spoon record before this one.
