Tubby Hayes - A Man in a Hurry DVD

I have mentioned on here a few times that I have built up quite the interest in Tubby Hayes and after reading the fantastic biography by Simon Spillett, I decided to hunt down this DVD. I couldn't find if it had been aired online at any point and I think it's only available on DVD or as a download from their website. The plan was to download it after Christmas but this DVD copy popped up on ebay and I was the only bidder! Looking forward to settling down to watch this, its got great reviews!

You just reminded me to check mine, I got the email about the wrong copies being sent out. Mine is Castaways but it is the black vinyl and not the Sea Glass (and it's scratched).

The ones I ordered im giving to my wife on Xmas, so...I gotta wait a few more days to check. I'd already wrapped them by the time the email came.

Yes. I had to do a double take a few minutes ago when I checked it out. FWIW there are four “0000”s in front of the “1”.

Doesn’t really mean anything but it sure made me smile after a hard day. 😊
Interesting. I initially read that these were limited to 1,000 each, but I saw a few posts on Ants where the number was over that. However I can’t imagine these being in the 10,000 range.

Received this morning these two long awaited records.

Fist is our December N&G AotM Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Michael Brook – Mustt Mustt picked by the great @Joe Mac @panino. On this album, our Italian friend says he never heard something so evocative and that he was captured by the mixture of rhythm and mysticism. He also says pineapple do not belong to pizza so he is definitely someone to trust.

Second is first Jazz in Britain compilation Into The Archives Vol. 1 and it's also the last package to leave the UK before all this chaos. As said by @britprogjazz, this compilation represents an essential possession for any serious aficionado of the players and the period. All of the tracks featured here make their debut on a physical release, and Group Sounds Five’s ‘near-mythical’ performance of Black & White Raga, a piece allegedly composed by the legendary British progressive jazz pianist Mike Taylor specifically for the quintet, appears for the first time in any format, having been previously thought lost. Be sure to look out for more exciting volumes in this series coming soon.

This might be seen as a bit of an indulgence. The record itself was a reasonable enough- about £22-23 if I remember correctly. The catch is that it's only sold in Australia. Throw in shipping and this is comfortably in my top twenty most expensive single albums purchased (and certainly the most expensive new one). Still, it's Christmas apparently and it is a lovely album.
