Fresh Grabs

Pre-Christmas batch:

A couple of early '80s late-era albums from Curtis & Marvin. Both very underrated. I think Something To Believe In is especially good.

The Redman & Pete/CL are original pressings. The Little Brother was sealed and cheap! I was originally lukewarm on Getback when it first came out since it was basically their break-up with 9th Wonder, but I've come to like it a lot more in recent years. Nas pre-order came through - my favorite Nas album in a long while.

Kehlani pre-order came in, too, really good album with a couple of my favorite songs this year. I play "Coffee" & "What's Normal Anyway" all the time on digital, but I always forget how good the whole Wildheart album is.

The Jamie xx reissue came from one of Target's deals. This is another album I never liked when it first came out, which was weird because I liked The xx debut and his Gil Scott remix album. I remember it was well-reviewed at the time but for whatever reason, I wasn't into it. Listened to it again earlier this year, and I guess something finally clicked for me. The Untitled Goose Game soundtrack just confirmed for me that this record collecting habit of mine has gotten out of hand 😂

Bonus grab of this sweet funk/soul 45 labels poster!

A few more bits arrived just before Christmas.

Binker And Moses ‎– Escape The Flames (Gearbox Records, 2020 Limited Clear Vinyl Pressing)
Peter Ind - Looking Out (Wave, 1969 Mono Pressing)
Project Wash-It Cleaning Concentrate

Really happy to have the live Binker Moses arrive, I have already streamed it a couple of times and it's really a stand-out recording. The package is decent as well, with a 'velvet feel' cover and hand-numbered, with this copy being 013/500. Peter Ind is an incredibly underrated bassist despite appearing in an impressive number of groups including those by Jutta Hipp and Lee Koniz. Over the past few years his albums have become more popular and this one, 'Looking Out', is becoming hard to find. I was looking at picking up some more cleaning fluid and put the 500ml super-concentrated 'Wash-It' solution in my Amazon basket....so I thought. I actually had placed the order without realising it. Not to worry though as its a decent fluid and will do the job!

Few last day before Christmas delivery gems. The Neil Young pair were an amazon find for £9 each. This Notes For You is probably there with Hawks and Doves as my fave of Neil's weird years.

Ramon Valle - Inner State is part of the Autograph Series that the RSD Ron Jackson came out under. Got an email from In and Out, streamed it, loved it, bought it.

I've received these nice records as gifts for Christmas. Very happy, I'm looking forward to spin them.

I got a $100 at my local (got the Jeff Parker from this year, new Kamasi and RTJ4) from my wife along with the Punch Brothers shirt (which is from the last tour we saw them), Step It Up & Go which is a book about NC music and a hip hop cook book. My daughter got me Flaming Lips, a Big Crown 45 adapter and a denim jacket that she sewed patches to (Sarah Jarosz, Colter Wall, Rock & Morty, Punch Brothers, Big Crown) & hand painted the Love Symbol on...
