Fresh Grabs

I found a black copy via a store in England last night. The only moderately affordable copy I could find anywhere.

Did you move your records down under? We've been considering a move to Europe and I have no idea what I would do!
Yup, moved over, and touch wood all appear to be perfect.

We ended up hiring a shipping container as we were sending over books, furniture etc. The company that did it were great, but I think a lot of it will depend on your luck with the companies subcontracted at either end. Other thing to consider is that shipping container rental is now awfully expensive, so there may be a price factor to consider.

We used a company called John Mason, who look to be a subsidiary of International Moving Company | Full-Service | North American

What I did was clean my records and put them in good outers, with the records in inner sleeves stored outside of the jacket in the outer. Seemed to save any seam splits, damage etc.

3 from the Target sale including the oh so classy pink granny panties! Then the new Colter Wall I still haven't had a chance to listen to but have heard nothing but great things.

The Beastly Deluxe Chris Cornell box was the lone big item I also got from Target and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was the splatter vinyl version as I was fully expecting standard black. Then a couple Atmosphere fillers which were two of the few things I was missing from his discography.

I got a pretty solid deal on the Technical Ecstasy which is an album i've been appreciating more and more over the years. I haven't heard the new mix yet so looking forward to listening to that and the rest of the box which looks to be pretty loaded.

I Skalap'd today. Picked up last Radiohead reissue, Bless the Mad first album and two Jazz Is Dead records (collection complete).

Last three Analog Africa releases. I have all the releases from the main serie but still missing Rebita from the Limited Dance Edition serie :(

Had to take last Makaya McCraven and Web Web albums plus this South-African reissue released by fantastic label Matsuli.

Finally, I can't go home without some Japanese records. First is Nuuamm (duo with Ichiko Aoba), second is Gezan last album reissued on red vinyl and a new addition to the perfectly well curated Japanese Jazz serie Projevt Re:Vinyl.

PS:give some attention to Gezan album, you won't regret.

John Coltrane - A Love Supreme: Live In Seattle (Impulse!, 2021 First Pressing)
Makaya McCraven - Deciphering The Message (Blue Note, 2021 First Pressing)

I have been waiting for the chance to get these at my local and luckily today we had time to head down there for a coffee and browse. After a good chat I went to pay and he knocked off quite a bit of money from the listed price which was super nice of him.

Calvin Keys - Shawn-Neeq (Black Jazz, 2021 Pressing)
Henry Franklin - The Skipper At Home (Black Jazz, 2021 Pressing)
Walter Bishop, Jr.'s 4th Cycle - Keeper Of My Soul (Black Jazz, 2021 Pressing)
Rudolph Johnson - Spring Rain (Black Jazz, 2021 Pressing)

I ordered these in the Black Friday sales at Norman Records. They sent the wrong Henry Franklin but as it happens I was hoping to get this one over the other (his first album) anyway.

Jazz Legends Cigarette Cards

These are some great oddities. Cigarette cards from the 90's that depicts caricatures of jazz musicians. There are a few sets here with one being UK musicians. Really cool, I have shared a close up of one sheet.

Stan Getz: A Life in Jazz by Donald Maggin (HarperCollins Publishers Inc, 1996)

Some more light reading, this one being a Stan Getz biography. I have always heard stories of him being quite a horrible character (an abusive alcoholic I believe) and I'm intrigued to learn a bit more to see how true this is.

Pastor TL Barrett & The Youth For Christ Choir - I Shall A Wear A Crown

I've wanted this since it came out but have only hesitated over the price given I already own two of the albums. But on a brief trip to London I popped into the tiny but excellent King's Cross branch of Honest Jon's and this was at a very reasonable price so I snapped it up.

Not my favourite fresh grab though - that goes to this test pressing. First real test pressing I've ever received, and it's from one of my best mates. His first vinyl after years and years of being a professional musician - should be appearing on a new label set up by the guy who runs Gondwana and is a really cool mix of jazz-ish, world beats, and what he describes as a kind of Steve Reich vibe. V cool. Should be out next year when I'll post more about it...

I can't say I'm a huge fan and got really burned out when I was a kid growing up, as this was all I heard...but couldn't pass up a decent Black Friday sale.

#107198 - I think my original White Album has a lower number.

Looks to be at the same price still - the price looks to fluctuate regularly.

I went with the Limited box to get the 180 gram versions of the analog LP's to go with the Remix/Remastered CD's

I have to say the 3 different versions - and different live covers seems a bit confusing for me - I would think it would REALLY confuse people that are getting these copies at their local Dollar General.
