Fresh Grabs

Yup! Same and same. Well, I need to get a copy of Out Of Time on wax (I have it on cassette) but that is Post-IRS so I’m not sure it necessarily qualifies as “early” anyhow.
I feel like REM divides nicely into three distinct eras: early IRS years, mid career/height of popularity (Green - HiFi), then the post-Berry years.

One of my best record store hauls ever was finding pristine first pressing copies of all the IRS albums except Document, plus Chronic Town, for only like $15 each.

Nice! Yeah, I I have good luck with early R.E.M. albums too. I have early Quiex II pressings of both Murmur and Reckoning, Reckoning still had the original hype sticker with it. The only Reissue have of their 80s albums was Life’s Rich Pageant. I don’t think I paid more than $15 for any of em.

Shouts to @JohnnyCashFan for the excellent PIFs! He even threw in a third surprise album “Ben & Sweets” which turned out to be an excellent Ben Webster session I had never heard before. All three sound great, thanks Jim!View attachment 120957
C, you also see this one listed under "We Wanted To Do One Together" on Columbia. Well worth digging for either version in the bargain bin for any Ben, Edison, fan. Straight ahead jazz that really swings. @TenderLovingKiller® Glad they arrived safe and you are enjoying them.

PIFsgiving incoming soundtrack day

@scotthilk What do you get the Carpenter fan who has almost everything ? 😊 and thanks for the Cash Christmas bonus as well Scott ( I will post this later on the Christmas thread)

@LeeVing

I need to listen to my Ghosts Of Mars still, but I do love those Watchmen S/T's - I kinda wish they'd release a complete set at some point. The Bowie cover was a big sell for me waiting for that Vol. 3...and it wasn't even on it.

Sun Ra - The Heliocentric Worlds Of Sun Ra II (Fontana, 1969 First UK Pressing)
Pepper Adams - The Cool Sound Of Pepper Adams (Regent, 1958 First Mono Pressing)
Hank Mobley - Third Season (Blue Note, 1980 First Pressing)
The Amram-Barrow Quartet - The Eastern Scene (Decca/Brunswick, 1958 First UK Pressing)
Bill Evans - You Must Believe In Spring (Warner Bros, 1981 First Pressing)
Elton Dean Quintet - The Bologna Tape (Ogun, 1985 First Pressing)

The first of 2 piles from the last record fair of the year. Absolutely killer stuff and great to have proper chats with people that are interested in the music as well. What was really great to see was that after chatting to the sellers before paying almost all of them dropped the price and in some cases by quite a bit. There's tons of great music here but the most unexpected/coincidental was the Bill Evans as I was hoping to get the Black Friday reissue and finding this first pressing was great!

Dave Brubeck Quartet Featuring Paul Desmond - Jazz At The Blackhawk (Vogue Records/Fantasy, 1958 FIrst Pressing)
The Modern Jazz Quartet - Django (Prestige, 1958 First Pressing)
Tony Crombie And His Band - Drums! Drums! Drums! (Top Rank International, 1960 First Pressing)
Chick Corea - The Mad Hatter (Polydor, 1978 First Pressing)
Duke Ellington - Blues In Orbit (Philips/Columbia, 1960 First Mono Pressing)
Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman (Island Records, 1971 Pressing)

The second stack from the record fair. All really great prices and in decent condition as well.

Stan Tracey - Showcase (Vogue Records, 1958 First Pressing)
Herbie Nichols - The Prophetic Herbie Nichols Vol. 1 & 2 (Blue Note, 2021 Classics Pressing)

A killer album that I have been after for a while now and I managed to get this in great condition. The Herbie Nichols is the first Classics that I have bought so far I think, and well worth the wait!

As ever, great haul! Especially that Sun Ra!! 🚀🪐🛰️

I imagine the only downside to one day ever going digging with you is that we would want many of the same things.
