Fresh Grabs

Sweet! You’ll have to share your impressions of the Frampton set. (Please.)

I played the first record and just about to flip the second to side two. First impression: sounds amazing so far! I can't compare to an original, and obviously YMMV as to whether you need these over originals, but Intervention Records doesn't disappoint once again. Gotta Groove pressed these and they did an excellent job. The records are flat and quiet. The box is just the right size, sturdy enough to hold the records but not too large - it's just a tad wider than a MOFI one-step box, but for 3 records. The tip-on jackets are beautiful too. Very happy so far, and I haven't even gotten to the best record of the three yet.

Here’s a fun one I found today:

I know most likely won’t find this interesting but I thought it was neat. Today at my local I found a sealed 1967 copy of Teenage Rebellion (AKA Mondo-Teeno) Original Motion Picture Sound. It was one of scared straight Reefer Madness type “documentaries” kinda like a late 60s version of Larry Clark’s Kids. The whole soundtrack is only 18+ minutes total one side being the actual music featured in the film (which is surprisingly good) and the other side featuring excerpts of narration from the movie, which is hilariously overwrought messaging.

Anyways stuff like this is why I love collecting records, it’s just good weird fun.

Very cool in so many ways, and a piece of history.

That poster is FUCKING awesome.

An order arrived from Juno. I think that's everything that was actually in transit coming my way at this moment. For now.

Some background: so I was drinking a few drinks with the folks in the vinyl spin challenge thread last Saturday, and one thing led to another while I was surfing the web and I ended up buying tickets to go see Depeche Mode in Montreal in November with the family. Then I got to thinking that I should fill-out some holes in my DM collection when it comes to post-Violator material. So that led to me making an order on Juno. And here we are. No regerts.

Do you have Exciter?
That’s where I stopped.

Forgot to post these pins from last month:

Daft Punk -  Homework
Floppy Disk -  Vaporwave
AIR - Moon Safari

I found MP’s website but couldn’t find the pin on there unfortunately but after a bit of searching I was able to find one at a synth store in LA called Perfect Circuit. Ended up ordering a cool T-Shirt from their store too so I’d consider it a win.

Minor pro tip: I'm up to 8 of the Depeche Mode reissues from Rhino and they're all quite excellent, with quiet vinyl and solid mastering (maybe Songs of Faith And Devotion is a little weaker than the rest, but I think that's the source material). Just make sure you get Record Industry pressings - this is why I ordered from Europe. I've had a copy of Violator pressed at Rainbo and although it's the same master, it's much inferior to the Record Industry pressing I upgraded it with (without counting the noise).
