Fresh Grabs

All I remember is the amount of merch associated with this movie, lol
And while I'll give it up for Ferris being Mathews most memorable role, you should give Biloxi Blues a watch ;)
And cable guy :)
Never seen Biloxi. Yeah cable guy I love but only because of JC. The soundtrack was insane money on RSD this year and ppl lapped it up

It’s was my birthday at the weekend and my girlfriend definitely spoiled me with jazz goodness.

Grant Green - Grants First Stand (Blue Note BN80 2019)
Freddie Hubbard - Open Sesame (Blue Note BN80 2019)

Even though I didn’t tell her specifically, these are the 2 I was most looking forward to!! Grant Green is a masterful guitar player, I have a copybook of ‘Grantstand’ that I regularly play so looking forward to spinning this one!

Verve: The Sound Of America
Very similar to the Blue Note Uncompromising Expression book, this focuses on the history of Verve with some fantastic photos included.

Open Sky: Sonny Rollins and his World of Improvisation- Eric Nisenson
Looks to be a great book, with a forward by Rollins himself where he states that Nisenson did a fantastic job of breaking down Rollins life story.

Coltrane: A Story Of Sound - Ben Ratliff
I’m a third of the way in so far and it’s a superb book. Ratliff focuses on the history of coltranes recording so over his personal life (although that does play a minor part in the book).

Plus I had a package arrive that I have been super super excited for.

John Coltrane - Blue Train (Blue Note 1957 Original Mono pressing)
This is a legendary album and Coltranes first and only recording for Blue Note. He has a stellar line up for this, with lee Morgan killing in on the trumpet. Coltrane actually wrote all 4 of the compositions as well.

...damn!
I can only imagine how wonderful that OG sounds.
😍😍😍

Hmmmm, that looks interesting. Looking forward to your opinion ;)

I will post in “What’s Spinning” as soon as I get a chance to cut into it and play one. Originally it said colored vinyl and went out of stock for awhile. Last I looked it still had ref to colored vinyl but pic shows black. I’m just hoping for a solid live recording and quality pressing. Little Steven can lay it down.

Edit 1: Definitely multicolored vinyl. Each lp is unique.

Late entry into the Fresh Grab because I was just notified this arrived, making my crappy day a lot better. Found a copy of the 1963 tabloid that accompanied the sticker and album for the Beatles Press Kit. There was only one on eBay for $200 OBO..............a few days ago one popped up for $50 OBO, $30 later the set is complete. Beyond thrilled to have this intact. :)

For those of you that also have it:
1) what kind of outer sleeve do you plan to use? I have none that fit

2) is anyone else's copy like mine where the disc "sleeves" on the front /back of the book kind of stick out past the book? A bit annoying I think, not sure if it's a defect or all are like this.
