Hip Hop

Oh, I guess all he put out on it is a digital only instrumental album. Do you know if he's going to be releasing everything in the future on there?

He's someone I've been keeping an eye on but a full release from him hasn't made me make the jump to buy it yet.

No idea - just saw the same thing you did and that he was calling it a label. I hope he does. He's actually an interesting enough rapper to be worth people's time. Seems like he may be more focused on his production / beats at the moment.

Damn. Honestly really bummed I missed that MadGibbs bundle. Was at the gym and forgot / didn't think it would go that fast. Would've been nice since my Pinata is warped to hell and I don't have the normal cover art Bandana

"Temple" off of Project 0 was one of my fav songs from last year. Would've made a great outro for the album.
He's supposed to be dropping his debut album "A Japanese Horror Film" later this year, so I'm really looking forward to that.

I don't think he's planning on repressing any of his vinyl, though. He seems kinda broke right now, and right after the vinyl for "Project 0" sold out he posted a thing on his instagram story saying "Don't come at me asking for a repress if you slept."
You don't think he said that because you should go to Jeff Weiss instead?

Actually really glad you brought that up. I checked the bandcamp for POW Recordings earlier and I saw this new album there.

Not hip hop but it's groovy as fuck. On track 7 now and I'm feeling it.
Man, I was just thinking about that. I liked their early stuff I heard (because he was writing about them) and I keep forgetting to check that record out.

call me a old head but i don't consider either of those artist Hip Hop. :ROFLMAO:

Truth is Blondie did a LOT for Hip Hop music. She was one of the first to expose Hip Hop to the mainstream. She and Fab 5 Freddy were real good friends after she came to New York and they met and he took her to all the Hip Hop spots. She was so impressed she did a song called Rapture where she tried her best at rapping, had a bunch of breakdancers in the video and gave Fab 5 a shout out.

i know my Hip Hop history i'm for & from the culture i'm not from the mumble rap generation you're trying to school the wrong one.Debbie Harry did a lot to push Hip Hop culture forward to a bigger platform.the Blonde i was referring to and others were talking about was the Blonde album by Frank Ocean.

Hey fam, so after passing this up for so many years because picture discs do not excite me, the collector in me got the best of me and i finally copped. Feels good
I actively avoid pic discs but had to cop this on the strength of Exhibit C. It sounds pretty damn good for a pic disc. Great grab!
One of those RSD pickups I thought would be in demand but nobody at my store seemed to want. I was also surprised, for a picture disc, that it wasn't noisy at all.

Yeah, it seemed to stick around forever but I thought it had gone up in value as of late hasn't it? Like at least a little spendy now?

As a jay Electionica stan I had to snag it too. I just wish they put A and C on side A then the instrumentals on side B. It be the perfect spin for a joint

Looks like it regularly sells over $30 which has got to be more than it originally cost. My only other picture disk is pretty spendy now too. The Uncluded (Aesop Rock and Kimya Dawson) one of the first records I bought. Something tells me you aren't a huge fan of that one. 🤣

I saw him open for Mos Def on the Ecstatic tour in a small venue (which was amazing) and we didn't know who he was and didn't feel like we should hurry and get there to catch the opener because we weren't in the mood for electronica 😂. Still saw most of his set but for some reason he wasn't super loud and everyone was talking and being loud over him, which sucked because I could tell he was good.

Still bummed he never got his shit together.

Honestly, nothing against Aesop but i've been listening to him since Music For Earthworms dropped 21 years ago or whatever. After a while it just became way too samey for me. I'm sure he still has standout joints and whatnot but I just feel no urge to check anything he does anymore. Ditto for Atmosphere / Slug and a bunch of others too.

Yes both Atmosphere and Aesop’s sound wears thin on me. Both are very talented and I definitely went through a whole Slug, Eyedea & Abilities,
Dose One, Rhymesayers, etc. phase back in the day but the last project I dug from that crew was You Can’t Imagine How Much Fun Were Having.

Love Ant’s production on that one
