The world would be boring if everyone hated the same music, and vice versa. There's a handful of albums that have gotten pretty bad reception either from critics or an artist's fanbase that I've thoroughly enjoyed. There's nothing wrong with liking whatever music you like, and if someone wants to give you shit or insult you just because you like an album that they don't, then fuck them. If this new Chance album does it for you, then don't listen to the haters and keep jamming to it.

Alright I was going to ignore Fantanos ass with the Chance shit cuz everyone did enough shitting that I expected it, BUT THIS CLOWN JUST SAID MAXO KREAM IS SO-SO, IT ISNT CONNECTING AND HIS TALENT LEVEL IS AVERAGE AND DOESNT STAND OUT.

He is now cancelled.
 
Wish I was around to actually be involved in the discussion about the reaction to Chance's record. But hey, here's my two cents for the one person who might care. Yeah, it's probably not trash (I'm not going to listen to it) but we live in a world where every single fucking reaction seems to be hyperbole. Nothing is just ok or good or bad.. it's either the worst thing ever or the best thing ever and that whole schtick has got to die.

There were a lot of good records released this year but nothing great imo. Just like there were a lot of meh records (Chance included) that weren't total trash either. People need to learn nuance ffs.

Edit: just wanted to add - look at the vmp hip-hop thread and what people are calling classic. like.. does classic not mean anything anymore?

People's definition of what is classic varies. This isn't really a new thing. I'm surprised you don't think any hip-hop albums this year have been great since I can think of 3 right off the top. How do you define a great album?
