Lots of reminders lately how grossly overrated Spoon are. Talk about regurgitated posture rock. Can they even originate?

Seems like you've got at least a master's in self effacement.Although, to be fair, I think I just have a screwed up conception of criticism, in general, because I did my time as a crappy pseudointellectual grad student fraud in a literature program..

I’ve always thought they were more like spYAWN.More like SpEWn, amirite?
I think we all have a tendency to get too caught up in what everyone else thinks of music/our entertainment/us. What I mean to say, is of course your preferences equate to real quality. It’s all subjective.Although, to be fair, I think I just have a screwed up conception of criticism, in general, because I did my time as a crappy pseudointellectual grad student fraud in a literature program... I also have literally nobody in my life to share music with but my wife and kids, and no social media accounts. My collection is hidden away in the bedroom, so on the rare occasion someone visits, they don't even see it. My music addiction is purely for me, for good or for ill, so I can't conceive of something being "hyped" or "rated" in some way, because that would require there being some kind of social experience of music, or a belief that my preferences in some way reflect "real" quality.
No one is intentionally setting out to make bad music. Although that does sound like the setup to a Seth Rogan movie.
Me too. Hell, I kind of want to make that movie. I can pull a Kevin Smith and sell my records to fund the movie.I'd stream that movie.
I prefer a spoon when I’m eating scrambled eggs.
I ask this as a Metallica & Lou Reed fan: Lulu?No one is intentionally setting out to make bad music.
The only musician with more delusional fans than Kanye West is Charles Manson, and even then it's close.
I don't know I came pretty late into the lifespan of the old forum, so there's tons of lore I still am in the dark about. What was all the hoopla with the guy on the old forum and The Manson record.
Man, that was so long ago now! What was all the hoopla with the guy on the old forum and The Manson record.
I seem to remember that one member basically attacked the staffer that picked it.Man, that was so long ago now!
If I remember correctly I think VMP released (or maybe just sold as it was back in the days of non-exclusive standard releases on the site as well) a pressing of the album on Blood Red vinyl. As messed up as that is I think it sold out pretty quickly but the consensus on the forum was, rightly so, that it was an incredibly tone-deaf release. I seem to remember someone defended it and was pretty adamant that there was nothing wrong.
