Hot Take/ Musical Confession Thread!

Fuck man, the Kym Register announcement got me hyped, so I went to add Loamlands to my listening queue and they're rebranding the old stuff to the new name like fucking Mandolin Orange did. Is this a new trend? Shit is gonna make finding stuff difficult.

I hate when they do that shit.
LIKE AM I SUPPOSED TO PUT ALL MY MANDOLIN ORANGE SHIT WITH WATCHHOUSE OR PUT WATCHHOUSE AT THE END OF MANDOLIN ORANGE? AND NOW THAT I HAVE THEM SEPARATED, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY PRESS THE DEBUT ALBUM FOR THE FIRST TIME AND CREDIT IT TO WATCHHOUSE. At least with Kym there was a distinct change in the band (like they became one)

FUCK YOU! Marlin shouldn't have changed the damn name! Especially for the dumbass reason - "We didn't think we would be taken seriously as a bluegrass act with a pun for a name". I never even realized it was a pun until he pointed it out. THEN he goes and starts a bluegrass supergroup named MIGHTY POPLAR. dick head (him, not you)

They're playing at Pickathon this weekend. Maybe I'll try and make an effort to see them

As a fan of Jason Molina, Will Oldham, and Bill Callahan I have found it easier to group everything under the main artist that rather to try to organize them by project names.

look, I'm not trying to dig out all the Neil Young from the weird crevices of the kallax. Also, just putting a record away is exhausting at <> 2600 slabs. REORGANIZATION IS NOT AN OPTION!!!

also, thank god I have never felt the need to deep dive these guys. I don't even like the one Molina record i have (I do like the stuff I have streamed which is why I have the one I have). @Indymisanthrope lost a bet and gave me an Oldham comp that I love but never felt the need to deep dive him and I like the stuff I have heard from Callahan but have not felt the need to pick up his stuff.... also what psuedonyms does Callahan have?

I'll lose my mind if MC Taylor ever decides to use something besides HGM.

All the Neil Young stuff goes together chronologically but Crazy Horse solo stuff is by itself. Bob Pollard is mixed in with GBV, Tweedy solo is with Wilco but Loose Fur is by itself.

The one I have the biggest issue with is the Grateful Dead. Currently I had Solo Jerry and Solo Bob plus their respective side projects separate from my regular GD releases but some of those solo albums are essentially Dead albums so they probably should be grouped with the Dead stuff.

I wasn't talking about Crazy Horse - I was talking like Stills-Young Band... Tweedy is in the T's. Loose Fur is in the L's of my cds (lol). Hart is in the H, G in the Ga's and Dead in the GR's. I don't have any Bob stuff. I long ago decided that Name and band are sequential (except fucking DURAND JONES - that fucker had to go and make that all confusing... that album will for sure not be integrated after the next Indications record - it is tonally different and fuck that engineer guy.)
