Hot Take/ Musical Confession Thread!

More of a southern take on rock n roll not necessarily country per se.
Rock n roll and rockabilly originated simultaneously and arguably, both in the South. While both are largely born from the combination of country and rhythm & blues, I would say that rockabilly leans heavier to the country side while rock n roll leaned heavier to the rhythm and blues. There’s a reason that most rockabilly acts eventually moved over to being straight up country acts.

It just makes me very uncomfortable to hear that. I've seen really shitty adults sexualize Billie Eilish and I fucking despise that behavior. But writing stuff like that isn't exactly helping. Some asshole's will see this as encouragement.
This is victim blaming.
Underage girls (or boys granted musically/artistically it's not done anyway near as much as girls) should not be sexualized at all. Even by themselves. I know the song itself isn't about that it's still a very uncomfortable verse that I feel may have been intentionally edgy or provocative. Not to get to personal but alot of women in my life have been overly sexualised by some really predatory people so this is an extremely sore subject for me.
I'm sorry, but this is bullshit. Teenagers are sexual, and it's ridiculous to say they shouldn't be able to sexualize themselves. That gross predators take advantage of young people is a separate issue, and again, it's weirdly victim blamey to link the sexuality of young people to predators who prey on them.
It doesn't necessarily need to he sanitized and safe. If she wrote a song about having a sexual relationship with someone her own age I would have zero issue with it whatsoever. It's just with the Minor/Adult dynamic that I have an issue with. Teens are raging with Hormones there's nothing inherently wrong with them discussing sex through art.
I don't understand why she shouldn't be able to write her truths however uncomfortable they make you. An underage person writing about sexual situations with adults are still basically writing about how they are unsafe with grown men. Which is a reality.

Ok, I have worded that incorrectly what I meant was that minors shouldn't sexualize themselves towards adults. It's not an acceptable form of behavior. There are minors who do try to appeal to older people because they want to be with someone more mature. It happens alot in my area and those Teens often end up manipulated and damaged for it. As I stated in a previous response teenagers can be sexual but when they're sexual towards adults it's not acceptable legally and one can argue morally. Those that do are doing something that's against the law for both parties in most states.

I highly doubt that people that sexualize minors are going to interpret that song and that specific line of the song in that way. They're not going to see it as a condemnation of their behavior. They're either unaware that they are exhibiting terrible, predatory behavior through denial or a shitty personal viewpoint or just don't care that they are.
