Hot Take/ Musical Confession Thread!

I may be out of the loop but what is this Taylor Swift bullshit?
I can't think of anything recently that was that egregious.
Blatantly lying about a person's actions to create drama where you can play the victim, just for the truth to come out with you looking like a total jackass is a bullshit behavior. In this case I'm referring to the Kanye "Famous" false controversy.

Also a more personal one is the line in her song "Picture to Burn" where she threatens to spread a rumor that her ex is gay. At worst she's actually outing him. And as this was when she was still "country" and personally growing up LGBT in a southern state with massive homophobic populations she can go fuck herself perpetually for that. I don't care how hard she trys to suck up to the LGBTQ community now. Fuck her.

On the other hand, I'm LGBTQ and welcome her contributions, sticking up for us, political statements and the like. My nieces love her and I am very very comfortable with them idolizing her.

*shrug*

You're certainly allowed to feel that way. But she's only really started "sticking up for us" and making really any politictal statements at all very recently now that LGBTQ rights is accepted by most of the Millennial and Gen Z generations. The same demographics that are majority left leaning politically. Plenty of celebrities have stood up for Gay rights long before it was deemed socially acceptable, she seems very late to the party so to speak arriving exactly when it's convenient to. This is just my opinion and its a sore subject with me.
I respect your difference in opinion and this isn't the only thing that she's done in her career that I have issues with. But it's one that effects me on some level..

She started out in the country genre. Which is about as accepting of the LGBTQ community as hip hop has been. So, yeah, maybe she's late to the party. But, so are soooooo many others. I'm not sure why that eliminates her from allyship and not others.

Also, I'm not entirely convinced she is straight. I think we are witnessing her working out her ish.

It's a journey with highs and lows and mistakes and the opposite of mistakes.
