Mac Miller is atrocious.. I didn't even realize that was a hot take.
This. Except substitute “rapper” and you have my sentiments about Jeff Buckley. Heck, less albums and still getting sour milk from that cow.I feel sorry about how it ended for the dude but this take kinda feels like some fanciful revisionist myth-making about a decent rapper that was, for all intent and purposes a nice and well loved guy.
Leave God out of this: blessed or damned...God had no hand in The Chainsmokers or EDMHow in the Goddamned Fuck do The Chainsmokers have a career?
The best solo Beatle record is Plastic Ono Band by a mileAlso, none of it is that great either. At least if we're talking full albums?
Is that a hot take?
Do you think he made a classic album? I feel like I could agree if you said modern pop rapper but to me that just means he wins over posty, which is a low bar. I'm not as experienced with the Lils.
Scorching!
You are must not be familiar with the works of: Mike D, AD-Rock, MCA, El-P, Slug and Aesop Rock then (I blame the public school system). Also, though he ain’t my favorite Eminem in his prime could rap circles around Mac. I feel sorry about how it ended for the dude but this take kinda feels like some fanciful revisionist myth-making about a decent rapper that was, for all intent and purposes a nice and well loved guy.
I am familiar with them and there are absolutely more talented lyricists and bar for rappers than Mac but I think as a package deal Mac puts forth a strong case and incredibly impressive discography to stand above the rest as all around impressive. It’s like another hot take of mine, I believe Black Thought is the greatest rapper on earth bar for bar but I think Kendrick Lamar is the goat of hip hop. Him and Mac are similar in that they are both incredibly well rounded as arrangers, lyricists and creatives and bolster nearly flawless discographies. That last part will catch a lot of flack especially if you haven’t kept up with Mac but over his career he put over over 10 studio projects that each improved upon the last, he never found himself locked into a box and continued to innovate on his sound. The only other white rapper that reached his level of cultural relevancy (not counting Vanilla Ice) was Eminem, who let’s face it, he’s a fantastic lyricist but outside of that his music was very shticky and his discography gets pretty blah pretty quickly. As for a classic album from Mac I would certainly cite Faces as his magnum opus and I think it’s generally well regarded as an underground classic. I think a lot of people write off Mac because they remember him from KIDS or Blue Slide Park and Ariana Grande features but when you dive into his discography there is a LOT of incredibly powerful music that goes above and beyond what people expect.
For those interested in deep diving, check the following projects.
FACES
Swimming
GOOD AM
Macadelic
Watching Movies With The Sound Off
Delusional Thomas
Devine Femine
Have you spent time with his music? This has got to be parody, right?

Cardi B also seems incapable of acting like an adult in public situations and that's turned alot of people off of herHot take: Cardi B is over.
She made one great album and a few singles when she felt she had something to prove.
She did.
And everything since her album came out (singles, collaborations) has been phoned in or half-baked at best.
J.I.D. is one of the most mesmerizing artists I've heard in recent memory. There's no question in my mind the dude has a potential classic in him.J.I.D raps better than Kendrick Lamar
Mac dying got a lot of people to finally listen to him. I remember people clowning how no one was listening to his last album cause it came out on the same day that "Astroworld" did (this was pre-death.)
He's definitely got a fanbase though. Over a million likes on this vid.
As for xxxtentacion, a lot of people were saying he was trash but that he still had potential just given all of the different styles he'd play with.
Also "potential" as in he died like a year or two after his biggest controversy and people believed he was on track to become a way better person before being shot over his chain.
I find a lot of his songs really interesting, and I think if he had more time on this planet he could've put out a project that's fully realized and polished. As for now, we're just stuck with demos that his labels keep beating out of his corpse.
