Hot Take/ Musical Confession Thread!

Probably a hot take for some, I find the Angelique Kidjo version far far far better than Talking Heads' Remain in Light.

I guess the bias here is that I listened to the Kidjo version first, and now I can't really get into the Talking Heads version. Her voice really takes it to another level.

I wouldn't say it's far better but her version is, in fact, absolutely stunning.

Are you including producers in there too since you said hip hop artist instead of rapper?
Oh nope! Wanted to avoid the term rapper because it definitely goes with out saying that there are more technically inclined rappers but yeah I guess I meant rapper 😂

Do you think he made a classic album? I feel like I could agree if you said modern pop rapper but to me that just means he wins over posty, which is a low bar. I'm not as experienced with the Lils.

Hot Take: Mac Miller is easily the best white hip hop artist of all time. View attachment 11621

Scorching!

You are must not be familiar with the works of: Mike D, AD-Rock, MCA, El-P, Slug and Aesop Rock then (I blame the public school system). Also, though he ain’t my favorite Eminem in his prime could rap circles around Mac. I feel sorry about how it ended for the dude but this take kinda feels like some fanciful revisionist myth-making about a decent rapper that was, for all intent and purposes a nice and well loved guy.
