Hot Take/ Musical Confession Thread!

It took me a few days and multiple attempts to make it through this and I am exhausted!
But I have a few thoughts that will probably be wildly unpopular:

1. Amnesiac >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kid A
2. Pablo Honey is not a Radiohead album, it's a greatest hits album from when they were called On A Friday
3. In the discussion of great female vocalists from the 80's it's sad that Taylor Dayne is so often overlooked
4. Jay-Z is a fabulous lyricist whose voice is painful to listen to
5. Speaking of Jay-Z, he only has one album I can listen to from start to finish (4:44)
6. Solange as a vocalist >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Beyonce as a vocalist
7. Beyonce has one great album (Lemonade) among a legacy of albums that have great singles but are otherwise garbage
8. If we are going to call out Taylor Swift for her shenanigans like we did 20-30 pages ago, then we need to call out Beyonce as the woman hater that she actually is
9. Miles Davis is the least interesting thing about his records from 1970 forward

...that should be enough.

One of my favorite Lollapaloozas was 1992.

I saw Lush, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Ice Cube and Ministry.

The Chili Peppers were the headliners and I have zero use for them so we left after Ministry. Stopped at a gas station a few miles away from the venue to discover Soundgarden inside buying King Dons and bootleg country cassettes. They were cool.

Even though I don't care for them I do feel sorry for the Chili Peppers having to follow Ministry every night on that tour - they were just ridiculously good.

A little faded but I was at the Orlando stop.

Everyone knows I love The Beatles

I actually like a lot of their solo stuff

Hot take...

...I really don’t like John Lennon’s imagine, it’s so poor and insincere that it’s untrue..,
Love this and will take it a step further regarding solo Beatles output:

McCartney > Harrison > Lennon.

(I don’t include Ringo because honestly I have never given his solo stuff a listen though I really should as I’ve heard that his early to mid 70’s releases are quite good)

I agree tentatively. All Things Must Pass is my favourite solo album by a Beatle and McCartney hit some extreme lows in the 80s...

My mom's all-time favorite band is The Beatles but for some reason she's completely unfamiliar with most of their solo output. It's like she took the breakup so hard that she had no interest in anything they did after that.

Also, none of it is that great either. At least if we're talking full albums?

Is that a hot take?
Are you saying none of the Solo Beatles stuff is that great? I mean, none are as good as the Beatles group albums (very few albums are) but I personally love Ram, Band on the Run, and All Thing Must Pass. Beyond that there are another 5 or 6 that I would consider pretty good.

Yeah, you can lodge that as my hot take. I like All Things Must Pass but I don't find myself returning to them often. Some great singles at least. Perhaps it is time to give them another shot though.

Maybe it is a case of just liking the best Beatles albums so much more that it is distorting my judgement. Not sure though.

I get that. You only have so much time to listen to music do want wanna spend that time with one of their solo albums or do you wanna listen to “Revolver” again; neither option is necessarily wrong.
