Ah ok. I know the US import is stuck in the ports. I already ordered that one but then I ordered a Red once I got the delay notice. The red is being delivered today but I have very low expectations. Just debating if I cancel the cream or risk paying almost $200 and still not have a decent copy.

I can understand that debate. By the sounds of it it’s been cut too hot which is causing the distortion/sibilance across the pressings. That said if you want a copy at least the EU have a better chance of not being a terrible pressing on top of it.

I wouldn't cancel the cream and wait till it arrives to see how it is. I assume they are pretty limited, so you should be able to sell it at Discogs without loosing much money or maybe even getting some, in case it doesn't sound better than the red one.

I guess I'll see how bad my red one was. TBH, this whole thing has soured my vinyl buying mood. Hopefully I didn't waste $60.
 
Got my Red. Definitely United. Did a couple spot checks. Definitely off center but I don't hear as much warble as I would expect from the amount of sway. Of course Motion Picture Soundtrack is the worst offender there due to the droning keyboards. A/Bed it to my Capitol 10" and it doesn't seem like much of an improvement soundwise. Will give it a full listen later. Didn't listen to any of Amnesiac or the bonus disc yet.

The issue with Discogs as far as I can tell is both the US and UK versions (runout included) identical. I understand that one was likely pressed at United and the other at Optimal however there need to be some sort of difference beyond pressing rings to be able to separate the US and UK pressing apart. I am almost willing to bet the the UK version has a different runout than the US version but the US version is what is currently listed.
 
So my issues so far with the red vinyl:

Kid A - sharp edges and a small chip missing, warped and off center, noisy throughout and distortion during How to Disappear Completely
Amnesiac - VERY tight spindle hole, warped, and comically off center/misshapen vinyl
Bonus disc - VERY tight spindle hole, off center

Probably owning the Optimal red one according to the labels, I did a comparison of my runouts with Discogs. They are identical to the ones listed there as "etched variant 2". My copy doesn't say "BAZZA ALCHEMY" on Kid A side B. It's only written on side A. So maybe the ones owning the United press can check if "BAZZA ALCHEMY" Is written on the Runout of Side B at their copy. If it is, that could be a sign it was pressed at United. If not, there doesn't seem to be a difference between the pressings as far as I can see.

Is it the worst ever? No
Am I hoping the starry edition is better? Hell yes

I’d hope the pressing from Optimal would be better than some of the horrors we are hearing about the US United pressing. It does, sadly, seem like there are some mastering issues too and they’re going to still be present for sure. It’s a pity because although A Moon Shaped Pool was a really average master, OKNOTOK is actually pretty OK all things considered, I was hoping it would continue to trend in that direction.

Well..even Anima sounds bonkers…just do pressings like that and everyone would be happy
