Seller is going to take back "phenomenal" "terrific" Kid A OG that is basically a G record. So... now what... Do I try again or admit defeat. The mastering IS very nice on the OG. I can definitely hear a difference.

Did you manage to return your barnyard find in the end?

I cleaned mine 4 times in the ultrasonic with the g-sonic stuff today and other than a few pops from the scuffs it got all those years in the card sleeves it’s actually a silent pressing, no significant background noise.

He's going to take it back but it hasn't gone back yet. It sounded very good under the crackle. But I cleaned it twice, it was a dogs breakfast. G+ at best. I'm still going to try find an actual NM copy because it really did sound good underneath.
 
So my buddy brought over his Kid A Mnesia album yesterday for me to try out. It's got the rings so I think it's the NA pressing, it's the red vinyl edition. I listened through How To Disappear Completely and I did NOT get any distortion on his vocals. At the very end of the track I did get some right channel distortion on the strings. But it was much less pronounced than I expected. I'm guessing that if I wasn't using a Shibata, that distortion would probably not have been audible. So I guess there really are some close to okay copies of this one. Almost makes me want to give it a shot with the UK press... almost...

Yeah I get that really badly on the strings and the vocals at that bit. Maybe it is a pressing issue after all and my shiabata is just bringing out every last bit of it? It really does sound like the sort of digital compression distortion that you used to get on over compressed mp3s back in the Napster days…

Has anyone else received the Kid A MNESIA hardback art catalogue book yet? I got a shipping email two weeks ago but it’s still just showing as “label created, USPS awaiting item.”

It’s weird they’re not coming to Dublin either just before, or just after the UK dates, normally every European tour does that, particularly the British artists. Oh well!

I’m sure there will be a US tour announced soon enough!

But it will probably be when it’s cold here and inside…I have no desire to go to an indoor concert yet

Yeah a new band is always going to be indoors. Regardless of their day job it’d be a little arrogant to go booking football stadiums just yet 😂

Ah right. From the venues I know in there they seem to be sticking at the sorta size level thats normally for a band that’s either doing well and trucking along, or the newish one that’s about to explode. Sorta converted theatres around the 2k mark.
 
Pretty reasonable In Rainbows disc box for sale at my local. Missing cd 1 apparently, but just because a CD isn’t there, doesn’t necessarily mean you’d miss it 😀
