I asked for replacements of disc 2 and 3 of the scary book for a variety of issues and they told me that they would send out replacements shortly, about a month ago. No reversal email just yet. At the time I didn’t ask for a Kid A replacement because I didn’t think my copy had the distortion issue, but upon further review, you better believe it does. So now I need all three discs replaced. I wonder if they have decided not to replace any discs at all, or if they are just denying replacements for the distortion issue. Either way, this is definitely bullshit.

I just sent a follow up email asking about disc 2 and 3 since they didn’t give me a timeframe. I guess we’ll see if they give me a shipping update or backtrack on the replacements altogether.

I realise I don’t have many options beyond appealing to your moral compass and better angels but here goes nothing.

Your attitude to this whole debacle has just left such a sour taste in the mouth. I will likely keep the record just because I wanted a copy of it but I’m so disappointed that every time I listen to a song that is one of the bands crowing glories I will have to put up with distortion on the strings a vocal.

In all honesty I did not contact you in the first place looking for money or refunds, I just wanted the product I had bought a high quality pressing to match the high level cost. You’ve made it painfully clear to me that you will not be taking steps to ensure this. The rigid line dictating that I either have to return for full return or just put up and shut up is merely rubbing salt into the wounds.

At this stage there are more important things in life that vinyl records and arguing with companies that just couldn’t care less about their customers but it would be nice if you could see you way to at least making a token gesture to a long term Radiohead mfan who has bought several of these special editions from you down the years.

I must sincerely apologise for incorrectly offering a partial refund. This was outside of my jurisdiction and I am so embarrassed to have misled you in this way.

While factory testing has failed to replicate the audio issues you have experienced and reported, the team are committed to offering a resolution that does not leave fans with a product with which they are not completely happy.

I would like to reiterate our offer to cover all shipping costs associated with returning the Scarry book as well as a full refund.

If you could get back in touch if you have decided to return the book we will explain the next steps

I would have expected something like this from another fan club I’m in, not someone associated with Radiohead. Pretty bad customer service and QC.
 
Meanwhile, XL sent me replacements for all 3 discs of a the red version(they were all horribly defective as well) and they are about to send me a second set of replacements, and I didn’t even buy the set from them!

How’s that for a customer service contrast.
