Immerse Your Soul In Love - The Radiohead Thread

This was the video that really started my obsession with Radiohead, because I saw it one of the two times it was played on MTV in like 1995 and then I spent the next like 5 years telling people about it and everyone I told about it was like "the 'creep' band?"
Oh yeah, all The Bends era videos were fantastic, "Just", "High & Dry", "Fake Plastic Trees"; Unfortunately, you had to watch MTV at weird times to catch em.

Has anyone who ordered the Kid Amnesia Hardback Art Catalogue book from the band’s website (Sandbag) actually received it yet?

tl;dr - I’m still waiting for mine and it’s been an annoying process trying to get it shipped.

The timeline:

I placed my order on 11/14/21.

Got a shipping notice on 1/11/22 (which still, today, shows as just “Label Created” in Anaheim - no movement or updates).

Reached out to Sandbag on 3/31/22 to update the shipping address since I was moving to a new place and still hadn’t received the book or seen any movement on the tracking number.

They responded on 3/31/22 to say that they “have now reinstated your order and we will arrange a resend for you.” Which was odd since the tracking still showed that the original item had never been received by USPS, much less delivered. All of the other items I ordered from Sandbag (scarry book cream vinyl, fear rules the land book, calendar, coffee mug etc.) notified me with shipping emails when they were delivered.

I reached out on 4/24/22 to ask if the book had been shipped yet since I hadn’t received a new shipping email or tracking number. Also reconfirmed my new address to ensure delivery to my current apartment.

They responded on 4/24/22 to say that :

“We are sorry about this.
It looks like your replacement was shipped to the old address and was left with the new tenant.

Are you able to reach your old place
?”

I respond with the following tidbits on 4/24:

1) I’d given Sandbag the new address twice for the so-called “replacement”
2) I’d set up mail forwarding (more than a week before I moved) through the USPS to ensure everything would be delivered to my new address.
3) Sandbag never sent me any kind of tracking or shipping notice for this “replacement” order
4) I walked over to my old apartment that day and looked in the windows and it was pretty obvious that no one was living there (unless they had absolutely no living room furniture and no tv or cable hooked up).

Sandbag responds on 4/25;

Thank you for your reply - I am so sorry that you have been unable to receive the KID A MNESIA Hardback Art Catalogue.
Please, can we ask you to confirm your delivery address and we will arrange for another item to be sent out to you?

So I replied and confirmed my new address for the third time.

They reply on 4/28 that they’ve created a new order and will arrange a new delivery of the book “very soon”.

I reach out on 5/6 to ask if the delivery has been arranged since I hadn’t received a new tracking number.

They respond today 5/9/22 and send me the tracking number (created today). It looks like it should arrive now by next Monday but I’m just kinda waiting to see what else could go wrong.

So the smile released a kind of decent enough Radiohead album with more distracting drumming. Interesting.
Seems like a lot of people are disappointed with it and I'm not sure what they were expecting? The album gave me exactly what I hoped it would and just based on one listen I can tell I'll be returning to it pretty often. I like the dreary, artsy stuff as much as the next person but it's kind of nice to just hear Thom and Jonny having fun.

Yeah that’s not criticism so much. Mid tier Radiohead is still miles ahead of most other acts, it’s just kinda weird that they didn’t just do a Radiohead album instead if it was going to be that close 🤷🏻

I am on my second listen, granted I'm at work and it is not dedicated listening session, but I think this album is better than I expected. I wasn't wowed by most of the singles, but the other tracks on this album are pretty good. Definitely not rushing to cancel the vinyl preorder.

Yeah, it’s a nice RH side project. Up there with some of Thom’s solo albums and Atoms For Peace. Not essential but still an enjoyable record.

I agree, I like it a lot! I only listened to the first two singles they put out and I'm glad I held off because I feel like a lot of the songs work better in the context of the album than they would have as standalone singles. And to be honest, for as much as people are saying it's just Radiohead 2, I thought it was a refreshing listen. While some of the slower songs sound straight from AMSP, the more rock-heavy stuff isn't really a sound Radiohead themselves have done since... what, In Rainbows? Fifteen years ago? I'm a big fan of TKOL, AMSP and Thom's electronic stuff, but I admit there's a part of that misses hearing distorted guitar riffs on a Radiohead record and this project scratched that itch perfectly.

Totally agree. And this one slaps:
