Immerse Your Soul In Love - The Radiohead Thread

omg

So yesterday i went out and bought the standard XL 2 LP 12" UK copy of Kid A from the 21/22 repress. The same one I could have bought five years ago before I went down every hole trying to find a good copy of this damn album. I figured what the fuck why not, even though every cogs review cites noise and all sorts of issues, Treefingers pops etc. Especially with the recent repress.

You guys it's perfect. Like PERFECT perfect. It sounds great, huge stage. I'm sure the OG beats it but it's better than the Capitol 10" I have and also the shitty effed up OG I bought that was supposed to be "spectacular".
I could have done this five years ago.
I COULD HAVE DONE THIS FIVE YEARS AGO
the shop I got the 10" from also had a 2xLP for the same price but I got the 10" instead... :(

I’ll have to try this next. I finally sent back the Scarry book today, along with two regular Kid Amnesias to Amazon.

LOL! Wow! didn’t think Kelly Clarkson would touch such a nerve. Ah well, I thought it was good and the idea of this performance being the introduction to Radiohead for least a few The Kelly Clarkson Show fans made me smile.
It's OK. It is definitely bombastic in a showy way. Thom really belts it out too but it becomes sort of desperate. Her version doesn't have that tenor, it made me think of James bond themes in a way. For sure some fan will check out radiohead through it though

Yeah, I still much prefer Radiohead’s version. I just thought this version was good and a different take on the track. The Bond theme is a great comparison. I think she would be excellent with something like that.

That particular Radiohead song is a powerful one, originating from what is essentially a concept album, that has its own unique vibe. Bleak, foreboding, fearful, and for Clarkson to try to turn it into some pop hit on prime time TV will certainly just drain the entire substance from the song for me.
