What is the wattage of the 509?Since I started this thread I figured I’d add to it even though it’s a bit redundant with my journey thread. Sorry if it’s annoying. lol.
Luxman L590axII arrived today. I’ve had it running for a few hours now and it’s all I thought it would be. Happy day. View attachment 230350View attachment 230351
In case you actually meant the class A/B L-509x or z, it’s 120/220 WPF 4/8 Ohm rated. It measures well above that though in testing. What is the wattage of the 509?
My question, poorly posited, was in regards to the class A spec. So many variables in spec amp power but, in this case to me, class A rating shows the real guts of an amplifier advertised as class A.In case you actually meant the class A/B L-509x or z, it’s 120/220 WPF 4/8 Ohm rated. The way I see it, it's a really a Class A/B amp with a high Class A bias. I don't care - it's marvelous. My question, poorly posited, was in regards to the class A spec. Is that how Luxman describes this amp in its advertising, as class AB?The way I see it, it's a really a Class A/B amp with a high Class A bias. I don't care - it's marvelous.
The 590 is advertised and marketed as a class A.Is that how Luxman describes this amp in its advertising, as class AB?
I'm aware of the marketing; I'm describing the engineering. The issue is that Class A amplifiers by design have no "reserve". To exceed its 30-watt rating substantially, something else must be going on other than pure Class A operation. "Predominant Class A operation" does not sound as good in ad copy.Is that how Luxman describes this amp in its advertising, as class AB?
That looks great! Nice job manCan cutting and finishing a piece of wood to top your shelves trying to match your speakers count as new equipment ????View attachment 230430

How did you attach/mount it? We're renovating our house right now and it would be great to do something similar for our new room, in the absence of replacing the Kallax. Can cutting and finishing a piece of wood to top your shelves trying to match your speakers count as new equipment ????View attachment 230430
Naw. It makes the speakers pop. If it was all exactly the same it would just blend, it's all about the flair.Wish I had not used a gloss Polly stain. The Zu's are flat and I think that would have made for a better match.
