It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

and as i said before and as spain shows, covid could just upset things completely. 1 positive test in your team during the tournament and you could be just out having to concede games because of quarantine ( or bringing in u21 or other teams as a backup because uefa does not want to lose profit from games being cancelled)

What I'm hearing is Scotland are going to default 3-0 win their way to the title.

Really? Didn’t know that.
I'm struggling to find the story on it again (may have seen it on Pie & Bovril or r/ScottishFootball) but I think it was down to their reading of COVID isolation regs should they have a positive test - I think they were assuming that one positive means the whole quad has to isolate.

It's crazy to this pan-european tournament with fans in the midst of a pandemic but man does it feel good to hear a game with fans in the arena

There will supposedly be 45,000 in Wembley for the England games. That said the U.K. is a hell of a long way further ahead of the rest of Europe in terms of vaccinating its population.

Italy 70% possession and really classic performance here. Turkey had no answers and really gave up too.

Yeah totally Italy have been good on the ball but Turkey have lacked energy. They’ve been so poor at pressing and harrying that it’s almost gifted Italy the luxury of that possession.

Id be raving more about Italy and be kinder on Turkey had they at least pressed and harried for some of the game.

And even still it’s possible to be the better team with 30% of the ball but you have to carry a threat and Turkey have had less that zero threat.

A couple of years ago I swore that the first thing I do if I get my hands on a time-machine is going back to after the qualifiers when they were not even qualified and make a bet on Denmark winning the tournament

And they did it all with arguably their best player, Michael Laudrup, on the beach!

That was a weird tournament though, so many teams there were really poor!

All I remember is seeing that boys kneecap popping out in the semi final match. Heavy boak.
