It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

I guess United were luck to salvage a point.
Decent game for Leicester. I really thought Schmeichel should have picked the ball up and played it rather than kick it straight away. That goal probably doesn’t happen.

it was a bad pass back to him from Amarty wasn’t it? So he couldn’t pick it up.

I mean..... VARchester United

Yeah that was dodgy for sure. It was one of those sorta orange cards, wouldn’t have at all complained if he got sent off. Kinda rich for a spurs fan to complain given that Kane got off with a very similar one earlier in the year!

sure give Kane the red idc, but that's a red too.

McTominay could murder someone at OT and not get sent off

That’s not at old Trafford…

and was in a game in a downpour where the crowd were literally throwing things at united…
Point still stands. McTominay and United get away with a lot of calls that could easily go the opposite for other players/teams. There’s 3 textbook yellow cards in that video and easily a red today. Some refs are more lenient than others, sure. But it seems like it almost always seems to benefit United in some way.

It’s really easy to throw up a video like that in isolation. It was a game played in a hostile atmosphere in a downpour. Both sides flew into challenges and the red let a hell of a lot go both ways because of the conditions.

It’s really easy and lazy to state “such a team gets all the decisions” and facts rarely bare it out. It’s nearly always the best teams get the most decisions in their favour and that’s generally correct because they have the best players, most of the ball and spend more time in the opposition box. It’s also pretty academic this year because we’re finishing 6th or 7th and you’ll be comfortably above us.

I mean, my team’s position is moot. If Spurs were 20th and United were 1st I’d still be complaining that they consistently get calls in their favor. I’m not going to convince you otherwise it seems. There’s countless examples of refs looking the other way on red card or yellow card offenses. Ronaldo kicking Curtis Jones on the ground against Liverpool, Slabhead escaping yellows when someone races past him. Idk 🤷‍♂️ I don’t think officiating is rigged, no one is buying the refs but I believe theres more leeway with United. That’s all.
