It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Jammy as hell but I’ll take it. With all the shots from distance there was always a chance a defender would get a nick on one of them.

You were right. Invited pressure and made a mistake passing about the back. It’s so stupid and preventable

Yeah don’t get me wrong I prefer teams passing it out from the back but sometimes against a high press you just need to hit the front a play off that. Push the opposition back and make the space to do it. Especially when you have a Kane who is good in the air and at holding it up and building play. We learned that lesson brutally against Brentford!

Exactly! It hasn’t worked at all this game so maybe every other opportunity try hoof ball. But Conte is stubborn in his play style so 🤷‍♂️

It’s not even a hoof. You’ve good technicians at the back. Mixing it up and occasionally going direct with clipped angled balls isn’t exactly the old school long ball.

I’m loving Cassemiro and Martinez today. Both so aggressive in the right way.

Tails up now. Wonder save from Lloris but does Rashford really need to try and take the leather off the ball every time. Also I think someone’s hypnotised Fred and told him he’s someone completely different…

Best performance so far this year. Still a bit wild in front of goal but that’s a nice statement against a good, and solid, team and we seem to be developing a bit of an understanding and some nice patterns of play.

I’m sure it must be difficult to hang ‘em up as an athlete, especially when you still have da passion, but at some point you either have to accept the fact that it’s over and retire on the mountain of cash you have or you allow yourself to be sold at a reasonable rate and still have the same mountain of cash.

Yeah it’s got to be difficult in one way as a sort of era defining superstar to accept being a squad player. There’s no way at 37/38 that he can be a regular starter and it’s an absolute credit to how he’s kept himself that at that age he could still have plenty to offer if he could accept that. I suppose the drive that took him to the top doesn’t make space for acceptance of your games being picked and planned out in that way. He’s reaching the space now where its likely to be retire or MLS after the World Cup.

Also hard to take that this is the story after that performance.
