J-Jazz (Japanese Jazz)

do you mean the latest ones cut by Bernie? Light in the Attic had a bundle of the first three then had the second batch as individual titles. Was still cheaper to order from CDJapan though I believe even with shipping. Not sure they still have them all in stock though.

should have other titles there too.
Yeah, I think they are the Sony/Craftsman reissues?

Doesn't look like CDJ have them in stock (could do proxy items but ehhhhh)

these are not the craftman reissues. this is a sony japan series. craftman reissues are a different series and seems that they are not doing any other TBM titles now that Sony has taken the reigns.

Sony ones are still solid though right?

craftman is a label from the Japanese record store chain Disk Union, so they are a licensor - Sony owns TBM so can do what they want, given the value in the TBM catalog they have launched this campaign, with a clear global jazz buying market as the audience

although, ive never heard the ones that were issued in Europe, I think the label is Le Tres Jazz or something (no idea if legal, etc) you cannot go wrong with any TBM album produced in Japan, they are all degrees of excellent, although I am lucky enough to have quite a few and do think the OGs have that little something extra, but it is VERY little..

Le Tres Jazz Club releases are fine but nowhere near the quality of the Sony or Craftman.

And I am not sure if these French reissues were legit. I bought both Craftman and Sony reissues and both are excellent. I hope to see more Sony reissues now that they understood there is a demand for TBM records.

I think they are legit but just digital cuts and cheap jackets.

Sony has releases already planned through 2025 for TBM.

picked up a bit of a grail today, TBM-31, Takashi Mizuhashi - Who Cares - at an expensive but seemingly reasonable price of 12K yen, no obi sleeve strong VG++, vinyl NM- and with a spin thru the 'guru its definitely silent...and while ive been trying not to buy records (Highly unsuccessfully) this is one of the few non-nonsense (free/fusion) TBMs my collection is missing, and while I will say it is an above average session, its probably not worth 12K, but then you listen to it and its like, "fuck...thats what records are supposed to sound like"

fuck is right. original TBMs fucking sound fucking great...plus the cover, Japanese dude with an afro and a cigarette....FTW

Just seen this on pre-order thought it might be of interest to a few here. (I’m not too familiar with this one tbh)

Instabuy! It is the last record I am missing from that Project Re:Vinyl serie.

Two new releases coming by the way, both in October :

this is a big deal...never seen in the wild here....also Sony Japan is starting a reissue campaign for many of the titles in the project re:vinyl series so Im sure they will get wider distribution...

I am definitely going to get Formation. I have only seen it at auction one or two times in many years. I really like Maki. Also a very tough one to find.

Hopefully they will get around to Trio by Trio +1. It was supposed to be reissued a year or so ago but was suddenly shelved. My hopes of getting an OG are not high so I would love a reissue.
