Interesting article. Always interesting to read positive comments about vinyl cut from digital files. Makes one consider how much a good mastering engineer matters. I might have to pick up one of these reissues.

Probably only of much interest to UKers but the Coltrane Mono set is available for £65 + shipping on eBay. It is an auction so may increase. New with small tear to shrink.

I have some records from this series, and they do have that Kevin Reeves signature sound (exaggerated treble with hollow middle range) that work well with certain rock records but not with jazz.
Not terrible by any means, but not completely satisfying either.

Unfamiliar with this series but I have shopped at Jean Claude's shop and chatted to him a few times. He seems like a really knowledgeable guy when it comes to jazz (although he charges insane amounts for his records) so I would imagine this to be a sold collection.

I’ve got the first 2 volumes of this series, they are pretty good, lots of variety so I really enjoy lots of it and a couple of tracks are a bit safe for me, not up to the standard of J-Jazz for me, but lots of stuff you probably wouldn’t hear otherwise.

I put an order in last week for 3 tone poets through Amazon US. I previously bought the Cornbread tone poet from them and it never turned up (eventually got a replacement). Now the same things happened with the other 3. They issued a refund for the items (but not the delivery charge), so I had to contact them again in order to get the refund for delivery. Now I have put the whole order through again, and have to wait another 9 days minimum for it to arrive. Not happy.

Real Gone are reissuing the first two Lonnie Liston Smith Flying Dutchman Albums In August. Both are coloured vinyl. Wouldn’t surprise me if VMP do variants too for those still members. Astral Traveling is a monster for those interested in listening.
