Jazz

I think that was the transparent Vinyl from the 70/80's wasn't it, I have a lot of Japanese pressings from that era that are transparent when held up to a light, but they just look black otherwise, I Think A & M used it a lot in the States and sure a few other labels , I think they sound a lit better, Quieter as a general rule.
Anyone ever seen this (maybe @RHANDMJ ?) just curios really. Wqd it pure marketing, or a precusroer to more recent premium vinyl formulas?

Thanks for posting that. Good stuff.

As an aside, I'm frequently jealous of your frequent British jazz finds, and today I lucked out with a cheap original UK pressing of the Joe Harriott Double Quintet's Indo-Jazz Fusions. A lot of superficial scuffs, but aside from some initial surface noise at run-in, it plays (and sounds) great. Not in the same league as a Don Rendell original, but finding any original Landsdowne series albums in the Pacific Northwest is a rare occurrence.

Great score! There's a string of these collaborations that Harriott made with Mayer in the 60's, "Indo-Jazz Suite", "Indo-Jazz Fusions II". The one you found is a particularly good one!

@Selaws , How's the new Ill considered pressing ??

EDIT :- OK, I ended up picking this up at my local this morning, looks like a Pallas pressing and it's a very fine thing indeed !
Ah sorry for the late reply. Yes, it’s very good. I know they have had some issues in the past self-releasing their albums but this one seems like the proper deal and sounds great to me.

Hell of an album as well. I’ve seen them perform it live but the addition of all the guest musicians really gives it that edge.

@Selaws - I can't remember if you were talking about Michel Sardaby on N&G recently or if it was someone else ... anyway, just returned to the states after two weeks in London visiting my daughter. I was able to hit 10-12 locals and my wallet felt significantly lighter on the way home.

So, back to Sardaby. I saw a copy of this album on the wall in Reckless Records (Soho). I was already way over budget, so I didn't take more than a passing glance. I want to say they were asking ~£100, but couldn't say for sure.

If you or any other London-based jazz fans are interested, give them call!

Oh nice! That's not an album that I'm overly familiar with but it's certainly a rarity, I will check it out when I next go in. I would love to see a list of big hitters that have passed through Reckless over the years, I bet its amazing.

If you needed another reason to support International Anthem…

Bought the latest Jeremiah Chiu album at one of their in person shows and found it had a sizeable scratch that affected playback…. messaged them on IG and they immediately got a replacement disc out to me and left a personal note ❤️

i've been waiting for this for what seems like forever. it was supposed to come out last RSD as a UK only pressing.

@Andy think you were looking for this one? or maybe you just offered to help me find it haha
Amazon has the preorder up for $39.99, if you are a Prime member and want to avoid shipping charges (and don't mind sending Bezos to space).
