Oh nice, Wallen Bink is the label that real eases the Duke Pearson album right? I didn’t realise they had released anything else so I’m going to have to look into this a bit more. How do they sound?
Yes, they issued the Duke Pearson. I have it — very nice. They announced that 7” series last year, and I’ve all but begged them to release the full Davis/Carmell Jones album.

Definitely the same label. The 7’s sound and look fantastic, really well done. Bit pricey, I think Honest Jons was the cheapest at about £14 each.

I only bought the 2 Nathan Davis ones, I really would like them to do the album @Portland Sheriff what was there response?

Maybe we need a 7” thread? Not Jazz but just picked up this 7” as well which sounds great on the hi fi & is really great fun.

Thanks for reminding me of my own thread.

Just giving a shout out to these recent MPS reissues. I have 4 now and all are AAA and sound great. The Alphonse Mouzon is my latest.
Don't miss the amazing Michael Naura album.

BTW, for those asking - it is likely that Hip Walk is not a priority, as it was beautifully done by Speakers Corner. Hopefully Happy Girl gets on their schedule.

How is Matador? Sound good? Pressing defects? Tip-on jacket? I am waiting on my copy from Acoustic Sounds.
So, I finally cleaned it and listening now. I'll echo @MikeH, it sounds great. I had a bit of sibilance on the piano on one track of side B though. Heavy tip on jacket, however it's matte and textured. I have to say I prefer glossy, smooth jackets. Inner à la RTI. Not sure where it's pressed at? In any case, pretty sure you'll love it, it's Tone Poet quality but without the gatefold. The foil it came in is resealable, so you can use it as outer (which I do for now).

Nice! Still waiting for Acoustic Sounds to ship my copy. All the reviews on Discogs are glowing thus far.

The main complaint I’ve seen is stereo vs mono. It doesn’t bother me much but instruments are panned. When McLean isn’t playing, there’s kind of a void in the center. But the album sounds excellent.

Did someone just overpay (not too terribly) for Dr. Johnny Fever’s (supposedly) copy of Mal Waldron’s “The Quest,” in a version brutally rebranded with Waldron demoted below Dolphy/Ervin and brutally re-cover-arted w/ hippie-dippy garbage, all merely bc it (supposedly) was a record once played by the greatest DJ of all time, Dr. Johnny Fever?

Yes! Someone (me) did do that! On the bright side, media is VG++ and it’s definitely one of the 1969 versions w/ VAN GELDER stamp (based on back cover), and it very likely was spun by none other than Dr. Johnny Fever. Most importantly, if Loni Anderson was ever in the remote vicinity of this record, it’s worth at least 3x what I paid. :cool:View attachment 132569
Turns out I way overpaid bc I really own pieces of a record once touched by Johnny Fever. This is actually good news bc the condition of the vinyl itself isn’t close to what was claimed, and I’d have a more complex problem to deal with if it didn’t arrive shattered.
EDIT: seller issued a refund immediately.

I didn't pick this up, but there were definitely a few on here that did. I might be wrong but seem to remember it being partly a studio recording (which sounded great) and partly an amateur recording (which sounded not so great). I think it had mixed reviews based on the price, but probably an interesting set.
Newberry has it on sale for about $30 which makes it still a little pricey but potentially much more reasonable. Otherwise it was WAY expensive. I was interested back at RSD but was priced way out.

$30 sounds like a decent price. It didn't make it onto my RSD because of the price. It's great that it didn't sell in may ways, hopefully they'll stop pushing the prices up for the RSD titles

it's $50us, but I'm going to pass. As avec knows I was looking for something to bundle with another cheap lp.

Oh shoot, I meant $30 OFF, but missed a key word - too much going on at the same time! 🤣

At $30 I wouldn't hesitate, $50 I'd consider, $80 = NOPE!
