Jazz

So, I feel like I gotta share this somewhere. My gf and I watch old American Idol episodes in our downtime due to depress…err…shared love of 2000s music reality tv.

Anyway, we were reading up on one contestant who was pretty well publicized at the time and it turns out he featured as a vocalist on a 2017 jazz project and his voice fits, shockingly, really well. Not burning the world down but really nice to listen to, capable renditions of all time classic songs. I’m curious if anyone would be able to guess it since it threw me sideways when I connected the vocalist to it.

(Edit, the clip doesn’t give vocals unless you login apparently, adding YT)

Sanjaya…yes, the ponyhawk himself

it's taylor hicks isn't it...

Recent pickups. Very happy with Wilson's LTD, sounds great! Maybe I'm in the minority but I find Cat a bit flat, not sure if it's the result of the half speed mastering. Anyone know if the 2015 Japanese pressing is any better?

More people should like Wilson. I don’t know why Norah is more popular.

Im afraid im posting here with more terrible news.

After reading of the passing of the record producer Creed Taylor, I have just read that Jaimie Branch has also passed away. She was an incredible talent that really was building a fantastic musical legacy for herself. Very sad news.

I'm still reeling from news of Jaimie's passing. Sad to hear of Creed's as well. A tough day for both classic and contemporary jazz.

Is there a good, affordable copy of Bill Evans Portrait in Jazz out there? I’m not willing to pony up the cash for an AP or MOFI. Thoughts?

@Jbraswell any recommendations?
I am probably not the best source for advice on this one.
Craft had some $25 copies they were selling on their site OJC repress.
Sold out now. Probably a digital source...

Could take a shot at this JP pressing. More likely analog.

Edit: Not sold out afterall.
