Jazz

FYI, Plaid Room has used jazz on their website now.

Such as this great album:

On this note, would anyone who has a good grasp on Ben Webster care to throw some suggestions down? (I wasn't the one who grabbed See You At The Fair but I definitely noticed it). I grabbed Soul of Ben Webster on a whim from an antique store and dug the heck out of it. Been streaming things here and there and he doesn't seem to miss. Looking to dive deeper as a lot of the universally appreciated jazz picks just didn't hit me like the Ben stuff has.

He's good on the Benny Carter Jazz Giant.
It's supposed to come out EOY with BG/Craft reissue.

I grabbed an inexpensive OJC copy and it's great.
BW is on several other Contemporary releases that would be worth checking out.

picked up some killer stuff from the Plaidroom used jazz selection. Just arrived today.

I love all the Visitors albums and highly recommend them if anybody hasn’t given them a listen. Apparently they took saxophone lessons from John Coltrane, who was dating (and later married) their cousin Naima.

Muse Records is awesome and I’d love a good reissue series of their releases. So much fantastic stuff on that label.

Been on the hunt for the Carmell Jones too and this one’s an OG mono.

Nice looking additions!
I'll have to check out Muse.

Carmell Jones is a underated artist, I have the Mosaic Select cd set.

I added a few to the collection today.
Gave up trying to get a non-warped AS C Brown after 2 tries and went with a EmArcy early reissue. Checking around for Vol 2 if anyone comes across one.

Miles 6-eye Porgy is just beautiful. Not a perfect copy but a really good player. 20220809_173840.jpg

Second @JohnnyCashFan on Soulville. Check out his Black Lion stuff too. I particularly like Stormy Weather.

2 LP Verve reissue set, Ludwig supervised mastering, and good prices too.

I can't get enough of this The Visitors album. Definitely recommend them if any of you haven't heard them.

Apparently the Muse catalog is owned by Concord/Craft now after a series of transactions over the years (Savoy Jazz owns Muse I think and Concort owns Savoy now...) Hoping that there's a reissue campaign in the works at some point.

My modest initial used Plaid Room haul. As always, quick shipping and great packing from them.
