July 8 - Once in a lifetime.
It seems I was "lucky" to have gone to SIU Carbondale or lived in the area when I did, as I saw or had the opportunity to see quite a few shows. It seems they don't get that many acts these days.

roky erickson & the explosives - halloween: recorded live 1979-1981
i got to see roky perform twice, the first time in 2007 at lollapalooza when he played with the explosives in front of a sparse daytime crowd. anyone that knows roky’s story knows that anyone who saw him perform in his later life should consider themselves lucky. i certainly do.

A fine choice.
I almost picked Roky. Only got to see him once. It was in a joint that holds 300 and turns out he only played about a dozen more shows before he checked out. He was totally unpredictable but this night he was focused and his voice was strong.
I certainly consider myself lucky as well.

Today is my oldest daughter's 13th birthday so I'm definitely feeling old and I'll play 'Isn't She Lovely' for her. This album and pressing are both a handful of years older than me.
