Velvet Underground & Nico

Reed is a bit of a blind spot for me, I’ve been slowly digesting him since I bought this on cd in college. This is still the thing I like the most. I think it is incredible and it actually makes it harder to listen to other Reed and VU, because nothing lives up to this. I’m getting there though. (This was in my to be spun pile)

January 16: Jimi Hendrix

Tash Sultana "Flow State"
(2018 Mom + Pop)
Going with an interesting modern guitarist for this prompt. The guitar work on Big Smoke and Cigarettes, in particular, is just wonderful. Discovered Tash Sultana via this board and really enjoy this record.

Also fitting because on all releases after this Tash is listed in the credits as Taj Hendrix Sultana!

Looks like rhino wanted to join in today. This is their album of the day:

Day 16: Jimi Hendrix
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced

I listened to Hendrix a lot when I was first getting into Classic Rock but don’t play much at this point just because I tend to prefer a bit more unfamiliarity with my music. That being said, every time I spin one of these classic rock staples I wonder why I don’t spend more time spinning these classics.

Day 16: Jimi Hendrix

V/A
- Woodstock Two

One of the first things that comes to my mind whenever I hear or see Hendrix’s name is always Woodstock. I chose the 2nd comp in particular because the entirety of side 1 is part of Hendrix’s performance and the album is even dedicated to him.
