Day 13 - Dogs

"Suburbia (The Full Horror)" starts with a montage of barking dogs

Lost in the high street, where the dogs run
roaming suburban boys
Mother's got her hairdo to be done
She says they're too old for toys
Stood by the bus stop with a felt pen
in this suburban hell
and in the distance a police car
to break the suburban spell

Chorus:
Let's take a ride
and run with the dogs tonight in suburbia
You can't hide
Run with the dogs tonight
in suburbia

March 15: The Ides of March - play an album that marked the beginning of the end for a band

TLC "Fanmail"

I've decided for this album released in 1999 as it was the last album released when all 3 original members had been still alive. While working on the followup Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes had sadly died in a horrible car accident on Honduras in 2002. So while not marking the end of TLC, it was the last album they did together.

Amy Winehouse - Back To Black

Things were already bad for Amy, but once this album blew up and she won a Grammy things seemed to go downhill fast for her and unfortunately this was the last album she released.

Sun Kil Moon - Benji

He got great reviews for this record but decided that he would from then on do this stupid stream-of-consciousness spoken word style about dumb things like how he’s been watching a documentary on HBO. He probably was a nasty person before but he got nastier around this album, too.

The Doors - L.A. Woman

The last Doors albums before Jim Morrison tragically died three months after it was released. The band would go on to release two more records without Morrison, but I think most would consider this the true final Doors album.

Day 15 - Ides of March

Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou - Reconciliation

I'm not really sure why Poly-Rythmo hadn't made an album for a while but this was their comeback album at the start of the 1980s. However, within a year or two perhaps their two main musicians - guitarist Papillon, and my favourite, drummer Yehouessi Leopold - were dead and they didn't put out many albums after this at all. Sad.

The Ramones "It's Alive" (1978 Sire; 2019 Rhino reissue)

I'm going with this album and here's my take. The first four Ramones records are stone cold classics. The release of this live album marked the end of that original era and what I'll call the "beginning" of the end - an "end" that lasted more than a decade, to be fair. Some of the albums released after this were decent enough and contained several great tracks, but they never reached the brilliance of the records released in '78 and prior.

March 14: National Pi Day - Play some Math Rock - or something associated with numbers.

I had no idea what math rock was so I looked it up and...yeah that's really just not my jam. So numbers it is. And I feel like as an artist he can appreciate some of the more nerdier aspects of music. Plus, come on, it was Sunday Funday and now I need some fun.

March 15: The Ides of March - play an album that marked the beginning of the end for a band

This counts for smaller bands, too. right?
So this band called Dead Indian didn't have any vinyl for their music, so they submitted to Feedbands which folks like me cast votes on which album to be pressed. This is the result... some pretty good tunes, if you ask me. But the band sort of dissolved and was left with the founder, Jesse Wells, to go out on his own. Some history is on his discogs artist page.
