HOW'D THAT GET THERE?

Sing Street - Soundtrack

I *think* I bought this after watching Sing Street one night at home one demand whilst drinking Manhattans. I say think because I don't remember ordering it or even listening to it before. Hey, there was bourbon involved. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That being said, it's a cute movie and a pretty fun soundtrack!

Phil Ochs – Pleasures Of The Harbor

I clearly remember snagging this from the bargain bin, though I don't remember when. It was either quite a while ago or quite a longer while ago. But I've mostly forgotten about it since. Every now and then something will remind me I have it but never at a time I'm actually able to play it so after what Discogs tells me has been nearly a year and a half, I'm finally giving this a first spin!

An important artist who, like many others, became a casualty of the times and the internal/external pressure...

"By Phil's thinking, he had died a long time ago: he had died politically in Chicago in 1968 in the violence of the Democratic National Convention; he had died professionally in Africa a few years later when he had been strangled and felt that he could no longer sing; he had died spiritually when Chile had been overthrown and his friend Victor Jara had been brutally murdered; and, finally, he had died psychologically at the hands of John Train."

This is a day for the forgotten corners of your collection that even the dust doesn't know is there. Dig deep and see if you can find something you didn't even know you had or that you don't remember buying.

Citizen - As You Please

I haven't been collecting vinyl long enough for this to happen, so I'll just go with something I haven't spun in a while!

DARE TO BE STUPID

Rage Against the Machine - S/T
View attachment 131924

This reminds me of one of my favorite non-Weird Al parodies- The Aquabats' "I Fell Asleep on My Arm," which spoofs Korn, Limp Bizkit, Rage, and Kid Rock all in the same song, and is about, well, falling asleep on your arm. The Rage verse has the great line "Corporate America makes pencils for the man with the right hand/ they make pencils for the man with the left hand/ but what about the man with the numb hand?!"

I forgot I had this, but remembered when I saw it that I bought it at Waterloo Records by what used to be SunTrust Park. I'd never buy this ratty looking of an album, but I have some new and less scuffed albums that sound worse.

I remember buying this album it was The VMP up and coming artist one month a few years ago. I just frequently forget this album exists. It’s a shame too because it’s the perfect album to spin during sunny late Winter day.
