As a pop fan of all subgenres, I remain unashamed that I enjoy this one of hers. Her growth, maturity, and sound has developed well here. She's been through a lot of heartache.
Doja Cat has been passed the "yuh" baton, tho.

Like so many have said already, I don't really feel guilty about anything in my collection but this one has certainly elicited the most eye rolls, raised eyebrows and groans - and that's just from my wife! But I don't care, my love for JCS is unabashed and eternal. I've made a deal with her that I won't actively seek out and order different versions of it that I don't already have, but any found in the wild are instacop. Currently, there are five versions on the shelf but this one is ever my favourite.

When I was 19 and working at HMV my boss took me with him to go record shopping at a store across town once and bought me a copy of this under the promise that I would quit playing the CD in the back at work! :ROFLMAO:
Growing up this album and Godspell were a Good Friday tradition with my folks. Certainly beat going to a latin mass!

Almost every track on this album (Illegal Alien is the clear exception) is a classic, and That's All I have to say about that. And how did I not play this in @ranbalam 's challenge last month with this album cover?

Jimmy Eat World - Clarity

When I was first getting really into music, I loved a lot of emo at the same time as loving Radiohead, Dismemberment Plan, Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, and the like. However, you didn't really admit to the former on sites dedicated to the latter. For example, this album was given a 3.5/10 by Pitchfork... however, if you look now it's one of those reviews they replaced with a highly positive one. My theory- people my age are now old enough to be in editorial positions at sites like that, so the music they loved in high school and college is getting its critical reappraisal.

I'm wondering why I didn't think to play it either!

I love that album, especially Mama and Home by the Sea.

Like a few others I don't really think of any music as guilty pleasures. This album doesn't really count, but I love Nobody's Daughter which a lot of people were up their ass in Courtney Love hate by the time it came out, and maybe that's the closest to a guilty Hole pleasure I'll get. I don't have that one on vinyl and just got this one a few weeks ago so I'm spinning it again.

Nice.

THE LOUDNESS WAR RAGES ON
Rick Rubin turned 59 today on Thursday! Honor the legendary producer by playing something that he produced. (Or something else that's bound to shatter some eardrums).

Ruen Brothers "All My Shades Of Blue" (2018 Ramseur Records)
A recent Rick Ruben production... even says right on the cover.

Ambrosia - Life Beyond L.A.

40E22403-33B4-4C69-9FC4-37E61ECE8792.jpeg

I donā€™t have much of a read on Ambrosiaā€™s reputation (mostly because no one talks about them anymore), but I know soft rock isnā€™t the most beloved of genres and I canā€™t imagine it was much better for a band that gradually went from prog rock to soft rock. But I really like the soft rock hits they had (ā€œHow Much I Feelā€, ā€œBiggest Part of Meā€, ā€œYouā€™re the Only Womanā€) and this album as a whole is pretty good.
