March 2022 Vinyl Spin Challenge Thread - Here It Goes Again

I only have one on vinyl for today's challenge and I am afraid someone will post it before I get a chance to AHH.... :/
I should note you don't necessarily have to play something Rick Rubin actually produced (since I figured there would be some people who didn't own something he personally had a hand in). As per the challenge theme, it can just be something loud 😁

Also for the No Shame day, I suppose my wording could have been better. I don't really believe in guilty pleasures either, and didn't mean to imply you should have guilt for liking whatever you play for that theme - quite the opposite in fact. I meant more in the way of something maybe others wouldn't expect you to own or something you know isn't necessarily a masterpiece or for everyone, but that still appeals to you personally (like 100 gecs would be for me, for example). Just thought I'd clear that up since I am in no way in the business of trying to shame anyone for their taste and I'm sorry if it came off that way!

Day 14: Rick Rubin/loudness war

Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros - Streetcore

Had no idea Rubin was involved in this until just now. Turns out he produced just their cover of "Redemption Song", which was the first Strummer song I'd heard, probably around six months after I got into the Clash as a wee lad. Love this album. Wish I'd heard the full thing a lot sooner than right before the pandemic.

MARCH 14
THE LOUDNESS WAR RAGES ON
Rick Rubin turned 59 today on Thursday! Honor the legendary producer by playing something that he produced. (Or something else that's bound to shatter some eardrums).

Justin Timberlake - Futuresex/Lovesounds

Has aged incredibly well. A lot of the production you hear on this LP is commonplace now.

MARCH 13
NO SHAME DAY
Play an album in your collection that you love wholeheartedly - even if you might tell others it's just a guilty pleasure.

I've got a thing for unauthorized live recordings. And many of them, especially those from decades ago, are a pretty rough to listen. They demand full attention and sometimes even that isn't enough to extract everything musical from everything else. I truly love them all the same.

Here's one - The Doors recorded in a high school auditorium just as they were blasting off. Get a load of the pre-show announcements...

The Doors - Fast Times At Danbury High

BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH
Et tu, Brute? Play an album that references death or murder.

They don't make them any more deathy and murdery than this one...

Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds - Murder Ballads

I was hoping someone would play this today since my not having it on vinyl (yet) prevents me from doing so. Sweet bonus being the first one played for the prompt even. Thanks Unc!

Like @BjorgenFjorgen with his Compact Disc, I am gonna take the opportunity on “guilty pleasure” day to play a Cassette Tape. Tapes are pretty much pointlessly antiquated in this day and age but I still like collecting and playing them. I chose DMB because they are a decidedly unhip band that I’ve always loved.
