TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON

For those who don’t know I have two major Holy Grails. One is paramore’s singles club boxset. Short of selling a kidney I’ll probably never get my hands on it. Thanks to RSD the soundtrack Monster was featured on is this album. So lucky to have a copy as my shop got O N E in!

Play an album that you feel is best enjoyed at night.

It's well documented here that I'm a vampire. Insomnia is a helluva drug.

In the music bunker, no one owns the smoky, hazy, wee hours of the morning more than Mark Sandman and Morphine. His death still cuts to the quick 23 years later.

The perfect record for this one is The Night and the perfect song is 'Souvenir'. Alas, it's never had a vinyl pressing but I implore you to enjoy the song below while I play a different record...

Morphine - Good

I like to listen to sad bastard music late at night when I can't sleep. Lambchop, The Magnetic Fields, The Notwist, and Bonnie Prince Billy to name a few.

I See A Darkness goes well with whiskey.

Up front, my answer is also @tvham choice, the perfect night album.

So with that my second choice is going in a totally different direction. Generally, I think Bruce’s biggest hits are best enjoyed driving, but so much of his catalog is ideally listened to at night - alone or with friends depending on the album. Let’s split the difference here.

Bruce Springsteen - The Wild, The Innocent, and the E Street Shufffle

I’ll add a pic in a bit

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories

It was actually a nighttime road trip from Edmonton to Vancouver back in 2013 that I heard this album in full for the first time and that night setting driving through the city with the music meshed so perfectly! It definitely has that night album vibe to me.

So I was really thinking about this and there were a few that came to mind. Night time is for parties and just general fun.

It’s Friday Night for me. It’s time to party and after all….

Federico Albanese – The Blue Hour

I believe I can say without exaggeration that I've listened to this album during at least 750 evenings or late nights since its release 2,254 days ago (2,255 in some time zones!) Probably more.
