BLAST TO THE PAST

Ghost - Impera

So this new Ghost album is straight up 80’s arena rock with an occult leaning. I hated it at first, but it’s been growing on me with each listen. Its catchy as hell, but I do miss the blatant Satan worshipping and spooky atmosphere from their earlier albums, although there are still hints of it. However, I am finding more and more to like, especially as I dig in more to the lyrics and themes.

It took a constant repeat on Spotify for a day and a half for me to really get into it....it was the same for Prequelle, too.

They definitely went a different way after Meloria and Tobias fired all the original ghouls.

I haven't listened to any of their earlier stuff, but was very surprised by how much of a late 80s Blue Öyster Cult vibe I got from most of this album.
Oh yeah. They pull from lots of different groups on this thing. Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Iron Maiden, even some Rush. The gang’s all here.

Yeah Yeah I know Ghost was posted, but not this album haha. This album got me through the pandemic too, but only because this was ahead of it’s time in terms of lyrics.

Sonically I’m thinking 80s metal when I listen to it. Hope this is ok. There were so many that could fit and I didn’t have physical.

I almost played this album, but went with their newest since it’s been my recent obsession.
