THE 90S CALLED, THEY WANT THEIR ALBUM BACK

Various Artists - No Alternative

Matthew Sweet, Soul Asylum, Urge Overkill, Pavement, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Uncle Tupelo, Beastie Boys, Breeders, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, et al. coming together for an AIDS compilation. All great tracks all the way through, even by the bands I didn’t just mention. This CD never left my five-disc carousel player in junior high

Speaking of CD's that never left my player in the 90's (although I was well beyond Jr. High at that point), I still have this compilation from Taco Bell that they released in '94. Living Color, Spin Doctors, Sarah McLachan, General Public, Smithereens, Enigma....

Some good stuff on there! The first CD I ever got was a free compilation that they gave out along with a sample of Crystal Clear Pepsi

One of the best pop adjacent records of last year. A delight to listen to, especially when factoring the messages of inclusivity and unity. Excited to catch these ladies in concert next week!

DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER
Play a great album with a not-so-great album cover.

INXS "Kick" (1987 Atlantic; 2018 2x45 1/2 speed remaster)
I'm not sure how controversial this is. Music is undeniably fantastic. But that cover. To me, it's an abomination. That white background late 80's trope is one thing, but what the fuck is that gratuitous skateboard doing there? When has INXS ever been considered skater music? Sure, it's dated. But it's just not cool either. I understand kitsch, but then the music on these isn't kitsch.
