DAY 29 - NOSTALGIC ALBUM
La Roux - La Roux
I'm very nostalgic for the late 2000s, when I was a dumb, happy kid jamming out with my dear iPod Nano. This album is special to me as it's one of the first pop albums I fell in love with. Every song on here is a bop, this album is so underrated. This album is probably largely responsible for my enjoyment of synthpop and whenever I listen to it, it takes me back to when I first downloaded an MP3 of "Bulletproof" from a shady torrent program after seeing the music video on TV. From there, my obsession with that song became an obsession with the whole album and now, over a decade later, the thing is still lodged in my brain.

(I also had a big childhood crush on Elly Jackson.)

Day 29: An album that makes you feel nostalgic

This record takes me straight to my high school parking lot in 1979.

The vinyl was spinning at home, but a copy was always in the car. While most of my peers cranked Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Freebird' or 'Gimme Three Steps' from their Firebirds, Corvairs, Novas and Camaros, I had the top down on the Mustang and was blasting 'Like A Hurricane'.

No slight to Skynyrd, but I was very proud to be in the minority.

Bonus fact - I've still got that '67 Mustang convertible. And I've still got the record I bought 41 years ago.

One of the artists I listened to very much since being 11 years old is Madonna. For today I also could have chosen an album like "True blue" or "Like a prayer". As I don't have them on vinyl I go for "Erotica", her 1992 masterpeace. It makes me feel very nostalgic, I was 14 years old when it got out. It was the time of puberty for me, of exploring sexuality, falling in love with boys, lust, affection, jealousy, all for the first time. The record and many of its topics reflect this time very well for me. I think it's actually one of the best Madonna albums, terribly underrated and contains such great songs as "Deeper and deeper", "Why it's so hard", "In this life" and "Where life begins".

Day 29 Nostalgia

Reminds me of my honeymoon in Jamaica. Legend was on a 24 hour the entire week . It was all inclusive so you can eat and drink 24 hours a day .
The only downside was I’m a ginger (although I dyed it blond for the honeymoon and they called me Fat Shady 😡) and my wife is black so one day we went out to the beach and I left my one billion spf sunscreen in the room and used her spf 5 . Was only planning on being out a little bit but my wedding ring fell off in the ocean. I can’t really swim but the water is so clear I could see it and grab it with my toes and paddle back. I was out way longer then I meant to be with her worthless sunscreen.

Any way by the time I got back to the room I had turned purple and was pretty much on fire for 4 days. Finally I shedded all that burnt skin like a snake and went out to enjoy the last 3 days of my honeymoon, and this was still on a loop 24 hrs a day all 7 days.

Blink-182 ‎– The Mark, Tom And Travis Show (The Enema Strikes Back!)

My first concert was Blink-182 and Green Day with my best friends in 8th grade. It was such an awesome show and this one always takes me back to those days.

Fake ring wear....Why??...What's the point...I just don't get it and I can't support it... Stop..Please...For the love of everything... Stop doing this

I agree with this 100000%.
A fake ring wear is enough for me for not buying a vinyl. Yes Trixie Mattel, I'm talking about you.

Day 27 - ugly

So probably would have played Masseduction. Don’t really have any straight up offensive covers. More likely to say they are boring. That being said this one is just a bit of what the hell? The vault version was even weirder with a metallic Vorhees flavor.
Also, I like this much maligned record. Even I thought it was a bit much and just plain weird when it was released, but it’s less odd every time. It reminds a lot of 808’s and Heartbreaks - it was just so out there at the time it was hard to swallow.

Pixies - Doolittle (4AD, 1989 First UK Pressing)

I distinctly remember the first time I heard the Pixies. I was a child that had basically been brought up hearing Queen and whatever other music was played on the car stereo. My parents were never really big into music and as the older child I never had anyone older to look to in terms of music. I was sitting at home between Christmas and New-Years, the family had just finished a big dinner so we were all sat around the living room chatting and I started flicking through the tv channels to find a Christmas music channel when I stumbled on one of those 'greatest music of the 80's & 90's' shows. The moment I turned to that channel Kim Deal's bass started and the opening of 'Gouge Away' blasted through the TV speakers. I was absolutely transfixed and spent the next few years delving into this 'new' type of music. 'Gouge Away' and Doolittle have always been favourites ever since, although it was a few years until I started to understand their lyrics......thankfully!
