MoFi UltraDeck / StudioDeck Owners and those interested

Shouldn’t; mine shares same strip as all my other components without hum. Is it very close to your amp? Tried different RCA cables? Checked the ground?
its a couple inches from the amp yeah, can play around with swapping RCA cables. I don't have very nice interconnects, I voided the ones that MoFi sent me for the ones from my Fluance, they surprisingly felt chunkier. Perhaps I'll try the MoFi ones.

Okay! It's hooked up, I'm getting a very low hum throguh the speakers that gets louder with higher volume. It's grounded too, could it be because its plugged into a strip with the amp, speakers, and pre-amp?

Yah, try the Mofi ones, you want WELL shielded interconnects. Or order some Blue Jeans LC-1 off Amazon (free next/same day prime usually)

Does your phono pre have any gain settings ?

You might be getting a very slight "Grado hum", but the Opus and UD are not supposed to.

do you have the turntable grounded to your amp or preamp? i believe you should have the ground cable going from the back of your turntable to the ground lug on the back of your LX-LPS.

you can also try to figure out the hum through process of elimination. turn the volume down and unplug the interconnects from the preamp. then turn the volume up. is there still a hum? if not, then it's the ground from the turntable.

could also be possible that your interconnects aren't shielded? i'd say you should try to pick up some Blue Jean interconnects or the Signal interconnects: Analog Interconnects

Seems the hum is gone after one side of Dave Brubeck? Just built up static looking for somewhere to go maybe?

Currently listening to Al Green's - Call Me

This is one that was actually a bit challenging for my Fluance, some harsh passages would reveal themselves on it. Those same passages are BUTTER right now. Handled with absolute ease.

Is there a general break in time for carts btw?

About 50-100 hours to be at their best. I remember that Opus sounding pretty damn good out of the box though.

Whats the consensus, do you guys leave the dust cover on? Seems like a hassle to take it on and off everytime since its recommended it sounds better off.

What’s blown me away most so far I think has got to be the absolute blackness of the background. It’s astonishing how little you hear the actual physicality of the record, makes it very easy to get immersed. I already love this thing ❤️, think I’m going to start an A-Z collection record to really break it in. Should be done sometime by 2024

Nice! Have you broken the news to the g/f you need another Kallax soon ?😊

ps @Ghost Try a $20 Ikea Aptitlig butcher block under the UD. It will give the UD a little more isolation sitting on top of the Kallax that is basically cardboard and air inside.
