MoFi UltraDeck / StudioDeck Owners and those interested

Absolutely SPOOKY experience listening to Nat King Cole's - The Very Thought of You AP pressing. Instant goosebumps, felt like the ghost of Nat King Cole took up residence in my living room for a private show. Made me kind of emotional if I'm being honest lol.

Highly recommend picking it up for anyone who needs an end-game demo record: Nat King Cole-The Very Thought Of You-45 RPM Vinyl Record|Acoustic Sounds
With that kind of recommendation I'll bite.. thanks!!

Can someone remind me how to rotate the tonearm assembly? The cart is hitting the SHW at the end of an album and I think I remember being able to rotate the arm out a little so that it stops earlier? Just don't remember how.

Thanks in advance!!
The larger of the two supplied Allen wrenches. The bolt is at the bottom of the arm base facing to the right. Support the arm-it will drop when the bolt is loosened.

I've always had a thing for Telecaster's so I wholeheartedly approve! That Sunburst is amazing. Will be curious of your thoughts on how this plinth compares with the standard sonically if at all.

Try one of these under the PD for a little extra isolation if you get a chance, nice tweak for $20
is Ikea paying you every time you post this ? ;)

Thank you!! I thought that may be it but wanted to be sure.

And almost no one knows better than me to support the tonearm, remember? I preach that to everyone. I practically begged them to add a note to the manual.. still no dice even with this Fender specific manual. Shame.

well, my stylus is definitely shot. upon closer inspection, the stylus seems burnt and bent. I must have damaged it when trying to remove the mosquito. I can hear distortion when playing records now. I previously had a Nagaoka Mp 110 on my Rega, and would love to pair a Nagaoka Mp 200 on the StudioDeck. Would appreciate any input!

The MP-200 will be a good match.

I have a Mofi stylus cleaner that I gently use after every other record. Other times I just blow (lol) at the stylus to prevent any contact. To my ears, all of my records sound perfect and I do not notice any added distortion. The only reason I noticed was because, believe it or not, a mosquito was stuck on the stylus itself when changing records. Tried blowing it off but it didn't want to bulge, and the mofi stylus cleaner was no help. I ended up using the brush to clean my velvet record cleaner to sweep it off. I'm worried I may have broken something.
One trick is to wet a stylus brush with distilled water to get off grime you can't get with a dry brush. Some manufacturers don't recommend the use of solvent based stylus cleaners and I find that distilled water works just as well for much less cost.

Steve Leung at VAS can replace your stylus and get the cartridge back to snuff; he's in NJ. I used him in 2020 and was very satisfied with his work.

This Ultradeck man.... what is it that makes the background so quiet? Is a side effect of great feet coupled with Delrin's resonance response?

I would always hear the run in groove on my Fluance, I'd hear the needle traversing the deadwax but this thing is JET BLACK until you hit the first track. I keep dropping the needle and glancing at my pre-amp to make sure it was turned on cause I hear no immediate feedback. So freaking cool! I'm at work rn fighting the urge to run back home and through on a record lmao
I did NOT need to know this...

That's what I'm running, and I'm quite happy with the pairing. (y)

I'm surprised how much difference relative humidity can make in vinyl playback. Previously when it's been cold and dry (RH 25%), I had been experiencing more surface noise than normal. However, last night during a rainstorm (RH 45%) everything played was dead quiet. 😊

You know what's depressing? This UD is making me realize just how much I've damaged some pretty special records in my collection during my time with my Fluance. For a while there I think I was spinning records with a misaligned cart and I think it did some nasty work to some grooves. No other way to explain brand new records + AP presses sounding worn out and harsh.

Side A: LA Woman AP sounds shot, rest sounds great
Side A: VMP Otis Redding sounds shot
Side A: MoFi Surrealistic Pillow sounds shot, rest sounds great
Entire: Sarah Vaughan AS Pressing

Will need to hunt down replacements for all of these at some point :). I'm sure theres more but thats all I've worked through.
