The 2nd biggest crime tonight was the academy denying our national treasure, Lin-Manuel Miranda his EGOT. Nobody is going to remember that bullshit James Bond song.

Sorry, sometimes the Oscars get me worked up.
So does he get the EGOT because he directed Encanto or is it more of an individual award?

Billie Eilish has a LOT of fans 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was annoyed no song from The Harder They Fall soundtrack was nominated. I really enjoyed the music in that one 🤷🏻‍♂️

Smith’s reaction was wrong, full stop.

But as I just saw someone point out on the bird app, Rock famously made an entire documentary about the politics of Black hair. The sensitivity of that specific subject isn’t something he could credibly be ignorant of.
True. I didn't take into account that doc or the larger issue. However, I do submit that the best comedy tackles issues that are sensitive and will probably offend someone. And thats probably a good thing.

Although that's more of a comment on comedy and our fragile selfs in general. It was still a bad joke. But Will Smith made Hitch so we know he wasn't standing up for good comedy.

In my Oscar pool I got 17 out of 23 right, and 4 of the ones I missed were because I chose heart over head. I'm glad I watched all the best pic nominees and a lot of the other nominees, it really helped filling out the ballot.

1. Isn't her medical condition alopecia? I get that hair means a lot more for women, but as a bald man who has heard it all....yawn. It may have been a bad joke but hardly tasteless or insensitive. It's not like the medical condition he made a joke about was cancer or something. People need to loosen up if that's what offends them or they think justifies others' offense taken. Life must be hard. Plus, from what I saw it looks like Will initially laughed (could've been a nervous laugh, of course) and Jada took visible offense.

2. They've put their life on the table to talk about. Don't see how they get to draw the line for when others can and cannot.
Yeah, long before this Will Smith had started getting weird, like Marlon Brando or Tom Cruise weird. He feels like someone who’s publicly played the role of “Will Smith” for so long that nothing about him reads as human. Even this whole incident seemed like Will was playing the role of “angry husband”. The camera caught him initially laughing at the bad joke and Jada get giving Rock a side-eyed glare. To moments later him jumping up on National TV and bitch slapping a comedian who gets paid to roast celebrities. Chris Rock (who I am sure has been slapped for telling a joke before just never on live TV during a major award show) could have eviscerated them following The Fresh Prince’s tantrum but kept his cool and carried on like a professional. Also, if Muhammad Ali is gonna make a spectacle out of himself by laying his hands on a grown man you better lay him out. Chris rock didn’t even take a step back.

I mean...it was kinda on him for choosing to submit the most boring song from the film and not the massive hit that probably would have won.
I don't think he has a choice in submission and there was no hit to go off of by the time submissions closed. Probably good he didn't win cus he couldn't be there anyway.

I was waiting for Jessie Plemons to bitch slap Amy Schumer for suggesting that Kirsten Dunst was a “seat filler”. I guess Jessie just doesn’t love his wife.
Current best celebrity couple. I love how supportive and positive they are.

Landry probably thought he was dreaming to get with Dunst, and now that he's the bigger star she is nothing but happy for him.

Looking through my ratings on Letterboxd and I don't know if I'm just too generous with my stars or if I just haven't made myself sit through any truly bad movies lately. 🤔
My ratings skew quite positive too. Granted, I do intentionally watch and log a lot of trash while I'm working, and I tend not to assign ratings to stuff I wasn't that tuned into. Also, I'm good about finding things to enjoy about even mediocre movies (or the earnest attempts at least). Even 3 stars is good for something in my book. 2.5 I tend to use for when I'm bored to tears with little entertainment value, and 2 down is for things I simply cannot with. (2 being just plain bad, and below that tipping into offensively bad or just plain offensive territory.)

I mainly spend my time on movies I'm pretty sure I'm going to like, so p much everything ranges from 3-5 stars.

Same same.
