Movies

There is a new Netflix Original movie called "Purple Hearts" that's out now.

I think I'm going to save this one to watch over the weekend with my family when the come to visit / have a beach weekend.

The movie is about an aspiring musician who has diabetes and can't afford her insulin. She schemes and marries a military man about to be deployed for his health insurance. Pure fraud, but then he gets injured and sent home where she has to play wife to prevent the fraud from being discovered. But then they apparently fall for eachother.

Letterboxd reviews for this one are pretty fun to scroll through. Excited to see what they’ll be for Lall Singh Chaddha (saw the trailer tonight at the theater and everyone was so confused lol)

Will add to the Prey praise. Very cool movie!

Have no interest in The Gray Man.
My friend was like ‘I feel like we need to watch this to be able to engage in The Discourse’ and she was asleep 35 minutes in.

Yeah I have no idea why Disney didn't push for a theatrical release for this. It really felt like it was made to be seen on the big screen.
absolutely.

I watched Luck, mostly out of curiosity and because of an article I read last week. Basically this film was supposed to be a big showcase for the new Animation division of Skydance, spearheaded now by John Lasseter (gross). It was/is the make or break big release for them. And honestly it's shocking that this thing even exists. Cause it is absolute garbage. The animation is horrible, the plot is so convoluted and confusing I couldn't accurately tell you how everything works together. There were so many people who defended Lasseter because they think he has a great vision for bringing stories to life in a magical way. And yeah, he did that with Pixar. But this movie proves it's not worth attempting to defend the creep because if this is the best he and this studio can do, I'm good. And I can't even believe he was able to get some Disney/Pixar alums to come to Skydance to work on future projects. Luck so clearly wants to be on the level of Pixar, and even mimics certain films in terms of the overall story it's trying to tell. But the writing is so bad it never comes together.

I love Eva Noblezada from Hadestown, who is probably the only redeeming quality about this film. But mostly I feel bad for her because she deserves better than this.
