It isn't lemon flavor like you'd think.
Yeah we watched it last night while trimming the tree and it is still splendid. I don’t think we celebrate Amy Sedaris enough, she is hilarious in the small moments of screen time she gets.My daughter and I saw this one in the theater last week. Holds up very well.
I rode the Elf train last night as well! My wife's very cold on Will Ferrell but as the movie opened we were both agreeing how strong the North Pole stuff is. Once he leaves, we were thinking "ok, this is where the movie shifts into stuff we like less," but still it remained strong through all the fish-out-of-water NY stuff and the department store (I love how Buddy himself is garish and Too Much, but his holiday decor sense is incredibly tasteful). I think the energy flags a bit once Buddy moves in with his family, but the ending gets me (people singing together is a tear trigger for this cat).
Good movie. Aged great. Ed Asner is my favorite type of Santa (crusty old company man who happens to have the toughest job in the world).
He’s really good at testing the Fire Detectors though.
Big dad points to you for just rolling with it. I imagine you and the wife were taking bets on whether she puked or not.A couple of years ago a local restaurant did a dinner & a movie series in their event room with a buffet themed to each movie.
The week they showed Elf it was breakfast for dinner, and they also made up a huge tray of the spaghetti/candy concoction Buddy makes in the movie, just for laughs.
My stepdaughter didn’t realize it was just for decoration. I was making my plate, turned around, and there she was just heaping pasta and M&Ms onto her own plate. She ate all of it, like a truly disgusting champ.
And in six months, he'll have to test them again! He’s really good at testing the Fire Detectors though.
Muppet Christmas Carol ages better and better for me as well. It's also absurdly faithful to the text.I think Elf is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I mean I saw it in the theater when it came out, and have revisited it a number of times since then and still enjoy it a lot.
Other than that, I think Muppet Christmas Carol is my favorite Christmas movie. It’s not the best Muppet movie, but it’s a great movie regardless.

Quite surprised Disney hasn't hopped on board with the internet-popular track of making more muppet adaptations of classic lit with an all-muppet cast save for a single human role.
Muppet Moby Dick, with Michael Shannon as Ahab.
