honestly he's the most intriguing thing about this movie for me. i would be there regardless given scott is the one putting this out there, but my expectations and excitement about it all is fairly tempered.

Catching this one tonight as part of Criterion's Heisei Era collection. This is one of the only zilla films I've never seen, as it's home distribution has been extremely scarce, even 20 years ago when I was a godzilla obsessive. Thanks Criterion! This era (85 - like 95) is my favorite, and I hope they're working on another box set. So many of them could use a fresh release.

I was invited by Letterboxd to a members preview screening of "Sleep" last night at the Curzon here in London.
A fantastic film at a fantastic venue. Sleep is Jason Yu's feature debut and he certainly left his mark. Its a great mix of nervous tension (not in the traditional sense), dark humor, and unexpected elements, all tied up with themes of married life. Well worth watching, it did really well at the Cannes Film Festival last year (rightly so) and its now getting a nationwide release here in the UK.

Wait, what? I just saw on the Today show that the "highly anticipated sequel to Gladiator" is coming out soon.
I had no idea they were making a sequel or have any idea where they could go with the story.

Based on my reading of the Nick Cave screenplay ~20 years ago...lots of places. iirc that version ends with Maximus living on across all history as soldiers/warriors across time. He maybe even fights the debil or something like that.

I hope so too! The Blu-Ray releases for The Return Of Godzilla, Godzilla Vs. Biollante and the double feature of Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah/Godzilla & Mothra: The Battle For Earth are OOP and going for big money
So a box-set similar to what they did a few years ago would be most welcome.
