Took the kids to Six Flags this week and as we rode the Mr. Freeze and Batman rides, I realized the kids have never seen the 1989 Batman. I was highly annoyed as we made a special trip to "rent" the Blu-ray since HBO Max movies sound horrible on the Apple TV. Highly compressed. So we went to Movie Trading Company and bought it for $6. Fire up the Blu-ray, no sound and only video coming out of the HDMI cable. Worked on it for about an hour until I finally gave up. Fixed it today with a firmware upgrade of the Oppo blu-ray player. But now I can listen to SACD and DVD-Audios again. The only new thing that might've caused the issue was the introduction of our new Epson projector. I'm guessing the HDMI 2.0 was an issue the Oppo needed resolved. No issues with any other HDMI audio sources like the Apple TV and the OTA TV tuner we use.

They loved it. We're going to save Batman Returns for Christmas time. I told them we should watch Batman Forever because that is a 90s guilty pleasure movie for me. And that soundtrack! They know about Kiss From A Rose because of Yellowjackets so I had to play them the video last night. They did not like Batdance. They just don't get Prince and how awesome he was.

I think going forward, if there's a non-MCU or Disney movie since Disney+ has IMAX enhanced movies, that we know we want to watch in advance, we're going to see if Movie Trading Company has them first and how much it costs. The Apple rental was $4. The Blu-ray was $6 to own.

I saw it opening weekend, was a great theater experience! And yes, Jodie Comer stole the movie.
