Movies

Coda won best picture a few years ago and still never got a physical release. I'd blame Apple.
And who remembers that movie won or that it even exists? That’s one of the issue with streaming exclusive movies. Most are quickly forgotten because they get a limited to no theatrical release and most cases no physical release as well. So when they get dumped on a streaming platform it doesn’t take long before it’s pushed aside for the latest movie or show the streaming platform has and because promo for that title usually stops on release day. So then it just gets pushed further and further down until it’s only remembered by movie nerds who are complaining about the lack of a physical release lol

And to add to the list of missing movies, Glass Onion - A Knives Out Mystery.

IDK if streaming or the release strategy is to blame, some movies are just forgettable in the public eye. Folks remember La La Land more than Moonlight because it accidentally fake won. Or maybe it’s just because it’s a better movie.

Finally got around to watching this tonight.

I can see why people like it; that was a lot of fun.
They sequels offer up the same ballet of violence as the original but the backstory get a bit more convoluted as they progress along.

Also, if you haven’t, please do yourself a favor and check out Atomic Blonde which offers the same beautifully choreographed action combined with Charlize Theron and Cold War-era Berlin.

But with a physical release, people preorder it, it's on display in stores (real and online) plus part of Black Friday sales, B&N sale, xmas gifts and so on so people are always reminded of it's existence. You don't have that with streaming. They release so much slob every week that other titles quickly gets buried.

And a nice soundtrack.

There's also Nobody with Bob Odenkirk.

A necessary rewatch with our sequel viewing coming up on Sunday. This was our youngest's favorite movie for a good 5 years. The segment where she sees the vision of her ancestors being voyagers complete with the Lin Manuel Miranda song with the native people singing might be one of Disney's best moments. So well researched and executed. I'd love for Disney to get back to that level of excellence.

With the direction Disney animation studios is going, I don't anticipate them to hit a peak like this again anytime soon.
